kitchen timers are soooo win! (NMR)

I sometimes hang out at the daycare to pick up ideas on how the teachers handle the toddlers.  I mean I have one.. and Miss Kathy (teacher) has seven.  So I heard any alarm go off and she starts flickering the light on and off and says its clean up time and starts singing the clean up song.  STOLEN!  We went and brought a kitchen timer and now use it for bedtime, nap time, cleanup time all the time!  It works so well! Note: She doesn't stay there but it gets her moving faster than it did before..  I think I might just hang out there more often :).  

I will say .. if you try this don't be naive like us.  We had it sitting on DH's table and we realized the chick was adding time to it.  The girl is 3 and already out smarting us.. gawd help us!

    Lol that is funny...

    we love timers too, I use them for everything and even have a watch with a timer that I use when we are out somewhere like the pool and need to have a cue to leave. Used the timer on my phone at the park today and they totally listened and ran to the car when it went off. Definitely an awesome tool, my Ds who is not a great listener responds really well to it.

    I am a preschool teacher and I love timers, I also use sand timers for the kids and the visual is awesome for them. They can see the sand go to the bottom and see that time is running out. Lakeshore learning company sells them and they come in 1,3,5 and 10 minutes. Awesome for clean up, sharing, etc. Just thought I would share!

    And now that my bigs are older, I use my 3setting timer for their screen time. They get two hours after all chores are done and they can start/stop at will. They don't add time though, which is easier to manage when they are older :
