November 2012 Moms

Is my LO the only one not STTN?!

She sleeps swaddled in the RNP. She cat naps 30min at a time and only sleeps 45hr stretches. Twice she went a 6hr stretch. I feel like my child is the only one not STTN! Thankfully my body has adjusted so with caffeine I'm not a zombie most days! ;

She is EBF...maybe that make a difference?

Re: Is my LO the only one not STTN?!

  • Not even close here. I battle him to go to sleep for 2 hours and then he sleeps 3 to 4 hours and every 2 to 3 after that. We used to get some 5 hours too but those seem to be a thing of the past. Congrats on adjusting though because I certainly have not! I'm a tired momma and I go back to 12 hour work days in 2 weeks. Insert mobile sad face.

  • I FF but DS takes 45 to 60 min naps at daycare. He falls asleep around 9:00, and usually wakes up around 2 to 3 and 5 to 6 to eat. He has SSTN twice but only until 5 when I wake up for work.

  • According to WTE, Technically if your baby is sleeping 5 straight hours then that is considered STTN at this age. M usually sleeps for about 5 to 6 hours now before he needs to wake up and eat around 3 or 4:00. Then he will sleep until about 7:00. For young babies that really is STTN.

If you're looking for more than 6 straight hours that won't typically happen until the baby is older, possibly around 4 to 6 months or older? Every baby is different.

  • Mine isn't...she may do a 3 hour stretch at the beginning of the night if I am lucky, but then it is back to every 2 hours. You are not alone! She is EBF as well.

  • DD is ebf but once I stopped trying to get her to sleep by herself, she pretty much chills and sleeps till I get her up. She lays down with me to nurse when I'm ready for bed and when she's done she goes right to sleep. I have to lay her down when I get up in the morning and she lays there and kicks and smiles until I change and dress her.

She does wake up and latch herself a few times throughout the night but I hardly remember when she does. So does that count as sleeping through the night?

You're not alone - I thought my LO was sleeping through the night, because he did for a week straight, but he's back to waking up in the wee hours of the morning.  They're still young yet, I try to remind myself of that.

    FWIW he's EBF as well

    Sounds like DD!!!

  • D does not sleep through the night. Not even close. We get one 3 hour stretch then two hour stretch then one hour stretches.

I am honestly just too tired most nights to post on the LNCI and I am pretty grouchy so I just avoid posting to avoid any chance of having a case of the arse.

Right there with ya, persephone. Not even close to STTN. In fact, her sleep has gotten worse in the last couple of weeks. My older one didn't STTN consistently until she was 3 so I'm expecting this to be our story for awhile. Anything sooner than that would be a major improvement!

Fantastic! I can now say my baby STTN.

We usually get her down around 11:30 and she's up at 5:30. There have been lapses of waking up at 2:00. And the last two nights she's gone down at 8 (on the activity mat), but woken up at 1:00 and 5:30. Too bad I like to sleep until 7:30.

  • Ummm, no, my DD wakes up to eat 2 or even 3 times at night to eat. Of course, I don't expect her to STTN, shes only 3 months old and has a tiny tummy. She's EBF as well.
  • My little guy is a great sleeper so I am so sorry that you ladies aren't getting good sleep. Last night was his longest stretch _ 9 pm to 8 am. Usually it's 9:30-7:00. H has been sleeping like this for a few weeks and before that it was 11-6.
