I hate that phrase with a fiery passion. My students used to say it when they didn't do homework or study for a quiz. You know, "YOLO, why waste my time on school work?" I don't know, b/c not graduating from high school goes great with that philosophy? I'm glad that fad has passed my kids this year.

This came up in my class yesterday! A girl was talking about how disappointed she was in her generation which made me laugh and ask why because they're only 13 and I don't think they're a disappointment at all (okay kind of a stretch for some, but I have to show the positive right?)

Her response was "Mrs. ***, seriously...we are the generation known for yelling YOLO after every.single.thing." And right on cue 3 kids shout YOLO!!!

It was actually pretty funny.

One more YOLO thing... we have Latin as an elective at my school. One of the Latin kids explained it as carpe diem for dummies. Gotta love the Latin scholars.
