    Alisap, I know nothing about the mortgage industry in your area - is 5% high or low? When we bought the condo, our rate was a fixed 5.34%, but then the rates dropped like crazy so we switched to variable. For a while, we were right at the 1% mark. It went back up but has been sitting at 2.5% for over a year now. When we sell the condo/buy the new house, we're going with a fixed rate of 2.99% (that's the one that just went down). That's about as low as I've ever seen!
