My OB recommended I start kick counts this week but other than mentioning his guidelines for them and saying that it can be harder to do with twins he didn't give me any other advice. I have noticed that as the babies get bigger it's getting harder to differentiate who is who in there. Any suggestions? Do you try to count movements for each baby, or do you just go by overall movement count to assume everything's going well in there?

Re: Kick count question
Mine recommended them if I noticed a decrease in movement. Basically I just laid really still and concentrated on where I knew each baby was. It's not exact as movement in the middle of my belly could have been either but as long as I felt movement in areas I knew could only be one or the other, my OB wasn't concerned. Mine were breech and transverse so it was pretty easy to tell who was who.
He told me if I tried to do a kick count but only felt it to one area (one twin) or only in the middle (could be either) then to call and they would do a quick scan.
I will agree that with twins it's hard and not exact but it can be done to a point as long as you are aware of the general area of each twin.
