Name help!!

We are having a little boy and, even though we are still not 100% decided on the name, we plan on keeping it a secret once we do decide, so I need your help!!

We both really like the name Riley, but are worried that about it being used as a girl's name also!  Do you know more Riley's that are boys or girls??

Our other option is to use Riley as his middle name.  If we do that, we like Dylan, Luke or Logan for a first name.  Our last name is a little longer and starts with a "B".  I am such a planner and want to have the name decided before we get too much further along!  Help!!

Re: Name help!!

  • I have met both male and female Rileys, but probably more little girls than boys, these days.  Riley is nms, so I prefer it as a middle name.  I really like Dylan Riley and Logan Riley.  I don't love the flow of Luke Riley, but Lucas Riley (nn: Luke) is nice.

    Good luck with your decision!

  • I know 2 little girls named Riley. I dont know any boys with that name.  I think it would sound good as a middle name with any of the 3 options you have as a first name.  I like the Dylan or Luke especially. Good luck!

  • Where I live Riley is becoming a very popular girl's name. I had considered it as a name for our LO (girl) but spelled Ryleigh..I really really love it, but everyone I mentioned it to knew someone who had just named their daughter Riley and I wanted her name to be a little more unique.

I still love the name even for a boy.. but have to say I do know of a lot more girls with the name than boys. I love the way Dylan Riley and Logan Riley sound too.

  • I'm naming my baby girl Rylee as well. For some reason it just has a female tone to it in my opinion.
  • DD is Rylee. I like unisex names... DD2 will be Rowan. I don't think Riley is "girly" necessarily. I think it is equally as masculine as feminine. Go with what you love!

  • I only know one Riley and it's a boy.  I think it's fine for either gender really, but if you use it as a middle name I like it best with Logan.

  • I personally don't know any Rileys but I say go for it. I think a lot of people have started using boy names for their little girls and that's fine, but I don't think that it should deter you from naming your son that.

  • My brother's name is Riley and he is 16 years old. To me it is a boy name and I think it sounds really good as a boy name. But I do agree that it is unisex. I like Riley as a first name for a boy. Cute
  • I know 2 girl Rileys and 1 boy. I think it is becoming more popular for girls although I do like it for a boy.
