Does anyone have a good alphabet book that LO likes? We have the Dr. Seuss one, but that's it. As much as I love Dr. Suess, I'd rather have an ABC book with real animals and things in it. It also has too many words to read it very often.
I don't have any alphabet books, but we do have alphabet Duplo blocks. Each block has a letter and a picture of somethign that starts with that letter on it.

NEIN! Blocks are the devil, lol! They huuuuuuurt when you step on them!

I was going to reply to avoid the Dr. Seuss one like the plague because I hate it, lol, but I guess not.
I dunno, I tend to be an Eric Carle fan, so I'm going to say that this one may be nice to have around.
I loooove Dr. Suess, but I don't like reading the ABC one to DS. Maybe I won't mind it as much when he's older, but I just want him to learn cow, duck, horse, dog...not Zizzer Zazzer Zuzz. It just seems like the silly stuff would be confusing at the age, kwim? We have the board book, too, and I hate that one more.
My boys LOVE the John Deere alphabet board book. I know, it sounds really hillbilly, but it's a very cute book. It's simple and touch and feel. I will look for a link for you.

Truth.
But books are dangerous too!
Didn't I tell you guys how DD1 ended up with book "scratches" all over her face? She launched herself onto her bed but failed to notice a cardboard book that was there and so it hit her right in the face. Poor little thing had those cat scratch-like marks going across her face for several days. So there, books are no better than blocks.
And blocks are easy to clean when your stupid cat throws up all over them.

Eh, the boys have tons of duplos. I rarely step on one even through they get dumped out daily. They're big and bright enough that it's not usually an issue.

Hahaha, ladybug, no joke....when I was thinking of my response to your original post (before I read the replies), I was going to say the exact same thing as this, right down to the Zizzer Zazzer Zuzz reference! LOL! We have the little board book, and I'm always hiding it behind the other books in hope that she'll pick on of those instead
Jerry Palotta is a children's author who makes all kinds of unique ABC books -- the Desert Alphabet Book, the Dinosaur Alphabet Book, Jungle, etc. He was so tired of "A is for apple, B is for Ball, C is for Cat" that he started making his own. They are picture books though not board books, so either make sure your LO is good with paper books or you'll need to do some extra supervision.
