period like cramps but not to worry...

I was so concerned earlier this week about the cramps I was having. I had my prenatal work-up with the CNP yesterday and on my way out I ran into my doctor. I mentioned this to him and he reassured me (as some of you on here also did) that my uterus is "doing things its never done before, stretching more and making room for two instead of just one".

This all made sense but my question is, when does it end? Am I going to feel these pains throughout the pregnancy? Do they get easier to deal with?

Re: period like cramps but not to worry...

  • They go away :)

yes those period like pains will go away and then some new uncomfortable symptom will  take its place!

  • I'm glad to hear everything's OK! As to when it's going to end.....your guess is as good as anyone's, unfortunately. Everyone's body is different and reacts differently to being pregnant. In my own experience, the mild cramps during the 1st tri gave way to RLP which gave way to BH, which stuck around and increased until the end....so, ya it's not like being prego with twins was ever "comfortable," but, like I said, some women have it easier or harder than others. GL!

  • Thanks for posting this, I can't believe how much I've worried about this since even before our positive beta. I don't think I'll ever stop worrying, but at least I know I'm not alone.... and they both seem to come and go. A little break from it even for 1/2 a day is nice.

The same was true for me. I would say the period like cramps subsided around 15 weeks.

  • I fluctuate between the cramps here and there and the round ligament pain, and I told myself the same thing - my uterus is stretching faster than it had to last time so it's just a little more uncomfortable this time around.  Even though I know it's normal, it makes me even more anxious to get to that next u/s and see that they are both doing well in there!  I even dreamed last night that I went to the dr. and she said it was just RLP!

  • I am so glad to hear that everything is alright! That crampy feeling stopped around 12 weeks for me, but it was quickly replaced by RLP and this aching pain underway growing baby bump.

My biggest thing is that I have been about 95% symptom free for the pregnancy so far. I was sicker than a darn dog with my first two, freaked out with cramps, etc. This time around... NOTHING. So when this cramping started and it was so intense I was like WTF?! This is the only time in my life I will ever wish ms on myself.

I'm looking forward to my u/s on 2/26 and I should be going to MFM for our 1st tri screen and I'm sure to take a closer look at the babies soon after that.
