Baby movement patterns a little off..

Why does my LO keep me up some nights kicking and jabbing and practising his karate moves and other nights sleeps all night and doesn't even barely move in the morning either?

Anyone else's LO not very consistent with there movement patterns?

  • Mine is the same way.  Sometimes its all day, sometimes only at night.  I've not figured out a consistent pattern.

  • Just like you are not consistent with your movement patterns, your LO won't be either.  It really depends on what you did that day- if you were really active, your LO may be active at night because you were lulling him/her to sleep during the day with your activity.  If you were lazy, s/he may be more active during the day because there isn't much "rocking" him/her to sleep.  Or the other way around.

Anyway, some nights I sleep like a log and don't move, others I wake up and the bed is torn apart.  So I'm assuming life is the same for a baby on the inside.

  • To keep my sanity, I try and learn my girls patterns.  She will usually have 2-3 days of lots of movement and then 3-4 days of rest.  During her restful days, I feel her stretch out and nudge me, but nothing overly active.  My MW just told me on Monday that LO is head down and facing my spine, so I'm not able to feel the kicks she is making to the back of my ute because I have a posterior placenta.
