What did you do once they outgrew the baby tub if you used one?
I've always bathed my two separately, but now that they are getting to the point of outgrowing the Whale of a Tub from FP, I am wondering if I should get a new bathtub and/or put them together in the tub itself?
Advice on bathing two at once with one that is a VERY active crawler and climber?
Re: Bathtub for two?
Honestly, I use the kitchen sink, bathing one at a time.
At that age, I put one in the jumperoo/exersaucer in the kitchen so she was contained and entertained while I bathed the other, then diaper and clothing, then the clean baby would go to the other jumperoo (or you could use a highchair or swing with some toys) and then bathe the other.
Of course I use common sense and thoroughly scrub the sink prior and clear everything away from it in their arms' reach that might be dangerous, like the coffee pot, bottle of dish soap, cover the faucet, etc etc
It's also less fatigue on my knees and back.
Once they started walking and outgrew the jumperoos, I just used my superyards that stay in the living room which is in clear vision and 5 steps from the kitchen sink.
I tried using a bath seat but the bathrooms are upstairs and I don't feel safe bathing one in the tub without keeping the other in my peripheral vision. And it's also the only room in our house where we could put the cat's litter box out of sight, so it's not a safe room for a crawling/ walking baby to be .
The bath seat is great if you have a better floor plan than I do.

honestly once they could sit up VERY well on their own I put them in the real bathtub with like...an inch of water. Together. I don't remember exactly how old they were.

I started putting them in the tub together @ 11 mos. One tries to stand up in the tub, and I view it as an opportunity to teach her that she needs to sit in the tub. I do not leave them EVER. I watch them constantly. I end up playing with them by splashing - they love it.
I put them in one at a time - one right after the other, and I take them out the same way. I will take the more active one out first, and she goes in 2nd. Then I dry them together in the bathroom. Their bedroom is right next door, so we will go into the bedroom to get dressed. Everything is done together.
As for teaching her to sit in the tub - I am consistent. I never let her think it's ok to stand in the tub. I am gentle about it - more insistent that she stay seated. She learned very quickly, but I do have to remind her about once per time.
I hope that helps?
We had been using the inflatable tub in the link for both at the same time. We started at about 6 months once they were sitting unsupported. Our tub popped so we are trying out both of them in the big tub with a couple inches of water. I do bath time on my own most nights since my husband works till 9pm. It's been going very well so far. If we decide it isn't working we will buy another one of the inflatable tubs.

Thanks everyone - very helpful. I might have to try the kitchen sink...there is more for the non-bather to do within eyesight to keep them happy.
My DD is so active, I feel like she would start crawling all over the bath tub if she had free reign. We only have one bathroom and it has a big old tub, so filling it takes a long time - even if it's only an inch or so.
I am on my own for at least 3 more weeks and then we can reevaluate when H is home for the bedtime routine again.
