Babies: 6 - 9 Months

how many poopy diapers for your LO a day?

I have joked with my husband several times that I didn't know having a child meant that you cared so much about naps or poop:)

How many dirty diapers per day does your LO have?  My son's bm's have changed to firm since we started solids, but he still has an average of 4 dirty diapers a day!!  I have his 9-mo appt in a couple weeks and plan to ask, but just curious what you're experiencing?

  • he seems to have a bunch of little poops during the day... its a big change from the massive blow outs when he was strictly BFing

One, or one every other day.  Rarely two but that's only if she wasn't quite done when we changed her. When it's less often than every other day we give her prunes to keep things moving (she had bad constipation once shortly after we upped her solid intake).

This exactly. My LO tends to get constipated easily so I give her pears everyday and that tends to keep things moving. If that doesn't work we also give her prunes.

  • Typically twice a day, but sometimes more.  (She poops in the potty, which is an added bonus as there is less mess for me :)

  • DS will be 8 months in 1 week and he averages 2 poopers a day

  • B has always been a once a day pooper.  Rarely he'll go twice.  Same thing with DS1.

Your 6 to 9 month old poops in the toilet???
  • Every morning between 8:30-10am we have a huge blowout. I have switched diapers, got a larger size and still it can not be contained.

Usually its that one and maybe another regular sized later in the day. Honestly her poops don't bother me too much but now that she is eating finger foods we see it in the diaper (peas, broccoli, sweet potato) because she is BF and it doesn't digest as fast. Those are getting nasty.

yep.  We practice elimination communication and have been taking her potty since she was 5 weeks old.  She still has " misses" and pees in her diaper - especially if I can't take her potty fast enough, but she rarely poops in her diaper.

  • My LO is 8 months old and has an average of 2 poopies a day, sometimes as many as 4 others as little as 1, but usually about 2.  Definitely not pooping in the toilet, but for the past few mornings she might as well have crapped in the tub or the sink because that's where I had to put her to get all the poop clothes off and then hose her down... AWFUL way to start the morning before even a cup of coffee Stick out tongue

She is definitely going through a growth spurt tho - eating lots, fighting sleep, learning to do more stuff, so I guess the big blow-outs are just par for the course.

How do you know when she's ready to poop???
  • this made me chuckle. i can't even image my LO using a potty yet. we are still trying to figure out how to crawl here... :)

i think i have the biggest pooper here. he goes 3-4 times a day. he tends to go EVERY time i drive him in the car. such a pain. :)
