Re: Wednesday Community Check-in

  • Updates: Second tri and feeling better! Looking forward to more prenatal exercise (walking, yoga, swimming and a new fitness routine) and seeing our midwife in two weeks. I also need to get more serious about meal planning and household organizing.

QOTD: While I used to dislike the grey, wet winters (and fall and spring), I love living in the PNW. It's always lush and green, there isn't smog like where I grew up, things to do outdoors year-round, and our summers are AMAZING! I love that Washington has legal marriage. I love Seattle in terms of comfort being an LGBTQ family, tons of different cultures and things to do, and proximity to other fun cities (Vancouver and Portland).

  • No real updates here. It is Manada's birthday today so that's fun. I'm looking forward to the little birthday dinner tonight.
We leave Friday afternoon to head out of town for a concert Kate Reid!! and then head to Chicago on Saturday morn. I'm a little overwhelmed by what I need/want to get done before then.

QOTD: About living in Canada, I love that M and I can both be on the birth certificate if we use an anonymous donor.
About living in Toronto, I love the diversity of our communities and our access to queer spaces.
About our neighborhood, I love how close we are to some beautiful green space in the city.
    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014

  • Not much new going on here.  Just loving every day with these little ones. They are so funny and make some really cute faces.  However, if you put them close to each other, they push and shove.  I guess after 7.5 months on top of each other they prefer space.

Tonight we will be leaving the boys for the first time alone with my parents.  Totally not worried about my parents watching them just a little bittersweet to be away.  Still trying to decide where to go for my b'day dinner but I can only focus on leaving the little ones... I know I am pathetic :)

QOTD:  While we live in a very conservative are (South East Texas) we love the people we are surrounded by.  Also while the north is under feet of snow, we have been sitting in the 70's.  The only flip side is the 110 degree summers...eek.  We also love the low cost of living!  One thing I do miss about being in the city though is being able to walk to attractions and amenities.  Out here everything requires a car ride.

  • Feeling good, and still really happy with my body and where I'm at.  I will honestly miss being pregnant, though I won't miss the insomnia.  Big Smile

I have some big rocks that I need to accomplish quickly, legal stuff being #1 and nursery being #2.  But everything else is cruising along.

I ordered S a custom-made Ring Sling (Etsy), with University of MN logos on both sides in contrasting colors.  That's her place of employment and I think she honestly believes she'll be taking this little guy over there with her often (hah - we'll see) so I thought I'd surprise her with this gift.  It came in the mail the other day and I absolutely love it.  My original plan was to give it to her during a shower that her coworkers were planning for us, but that has since been postponed so she's getting it for Valentine's Day.  I can't wait!

QOTD: I'll pick just one thing for now and it's very relevant.  The Twin Cities (MN) has a very vibrant birth community and tons of awesome resources that are very empowering to women.  I'm incredibly grateful for that, and to have had a choice of many providers who would support us in our birth preferences.

  • Happy birthday 2moms2be!

No real updates today, except that I am consistently feeling more committed and enthusiastic about our March and April ttc cycles, and less conflicted about work concerns around them. That feels SO reassuring to me.

My bday is also going well. A good day so far! So many bday greetings via Facebook, texts and phone it's lovely.

QOTW: I like Toronto because there are lots of variety in things to do I grew up in a small town where options were limited to the bar, so I appreciate having choice. I also like our area o the city because its central but has a very neighbourhoody feel and is close to lots of green space

  • We have a little bit of an update I guess.  I had blood work done last week to check my hormone levels and all is well.  We also scheduled an appointment with an RE for next month.  We want to get an expert opinion and verify that we are doing everything correctly.  On the down side, I have been fighting a migraine for the last two days.  If I don't feel any better by tomorrow I will be going to see my Dr.

QOTD: I was born and raised in Columbus and this is home to me.  I love that we have a huge LGBT community here.  My crazy family is here and I am a huge Buckeye fan!!!  I wish that our marriage was legal here :-(

  • imagetrisholio:

We also scheduled an appointment with an RE for next month.

I hope you don't have to keep this appointment!  But I'm really glad you decided to make the consultation appointment.  I think, if anything, it will give you a ton of insight.  Let me know how it goes!

  • My partner's uterus feels like it is up to her belly button now, which is where the doc said she should be at 20 weeks-- & we're only at 18 weeks, so I think that's a good sign? Next week we're going to start reading a bedtime story to the LO. We're going with something that rhymes, so the cadence will be soothing when s/he transitions to the outside. I don't know how recognizable it'll be to a floating fetus, but it's a nice little ritual for us as partners, too.

We live in Madison, Wisconsin, which is known as the liberal oasis of the dairy state. We have a great annual book festival with lots of visiting authors, as well as a film festival that shows great indie and foreign films. Our farmer's market is killer. I also like that we're close to family... until I have to spend more than 6 hours with them, at which point I like it significantly less. :)

  • A day late...

QOTD - I like that it is an easy drive to many cool places on the east coast.
