DS is hitting the four month wakeful early 13 weeks. At least I think that's what it is. Has anyone else been through this and if so how long did it last and what did you do to help your LO through it? DS used to sleep from 11 9 with one or two wakings to eat and is now up every hour and a half through the night. I feel bad for him because he's so tired and can't seem to figure out how to fall back asleep. Sometimes the minute I pick him up he's back out again, sometimes it takes rocking and occasionally feeding. He is EBF and im not looking for a full night uninterrupted just a few stretches of sleep that will make a better rested baby and mom. Any advice?
Re: 4 month wakeful
Ours is still going strong at 7.5 months.
DS used to sleep 8-8 either straight through or with just one waking to eat at 4:30. At 15 weeks he started waking hourly. Then we went out of town. Twice. He got sick. Learned to crawl. Sprouted a tooth. And now, he's laser focused on wanting to stand and walk. So, at best, he'll sleep 3 hours, but he's usually up every 1 or 2 all night long. We bedshare so the interruption is minimal. He latches, eats, and we both fall back to sleep within minutes. If he's really hungry it's maybe 10-15 minutes of nursing at the most. He sleeps 11 hours, the first two or three in his own bed, and the next 8 in bed with me.
If I had to get up each time he woke to go to him in another room, or even just to his bed all night long, I wouldn't have lasted more than a few days. He's just now starting to fall back to sleep without nursing sometimes. At least one of his wakings, he rolls to look at me, then rolls back to the other side and goes back to sleep. I figure, once he gets better at that, we might try something along the lines of the sleep lady shuffle.
