The ex seems to think that now that he's a free man it's time to act like a fourteen year old hipster. He sent me an invite to like his poetry page on FB. When he noticed I hadn't "liked" it an hour or two later he told me to go and like it because he's trying to get himself out there.
He also keeps trying to get into local bands who seem like they may be going places and they keep coming up with reasons why he can't join. He thinks he's got some undeniable talent and it's just interpersonal politics, and I'm just like,
Take the hint, guy.

Re: Gimme a friggin' break!
IKR? I just really, really, REALLY don't want to like his stupid page. Because I don't actually like it. I feel like I'm in some bad movie where my relationship imploded because my ex wanted to be an artist and his family was getting in the way. I'm not sure he understands that this could only go one of two ways: either he never makes it and continues to look like a bit of an idiot OR he does miraculously make it and he never gets to see his kids because he's too busy.
Have fun with all that glory, sir. I'll be over here trying my best to be sensible.

I understand what you're saying. Maybe he will wake up at some point and realize he's wasting precious time with his kids to live out something that probably isn't going to happen. He's young, right? 30 changed my DH, like big time.
Nah, he never wanted to grow up in the first place. When we were together he was always trying to find reasons to go hang out with his friends and "jam". It was a point of contention between us for pretty much the entirety of our relationship. He was the same way in high school. He's just...never grown up. He literally hates being an adult. Maybe he'll get over it someday, who knows.

I know the spilt wasn't your idea at first, but I think you got the better end of the deal for sure.
eta: I still think back to the guy I dated for a year who told me that his dream was to sit on the beach and play his guitar. He was such a lazy ass.

Except Paulie Bleeker is much more unassuming than my relatively self-centered ex. and I doubt the ex is going to magically see the light and want to be with me in the end. And if he did I'd probably just give him the crazy eye, because that would be a bit of a WTF situation.
I am really short like Juno, though. And one time someone said I look a lot like Ellen Page, but I don't really think that's true.

I meant the couple that supposed to be adopting the baby and the husband freaks out and leaves because he wants to be a rock star! Lol
I ALWAYS forget about that entire part of the movie, lmao.

I missed the whole part when you two called it quits, but I can tell you that I have been in your shoes in some way. My dad left my mom when I was eight. Well, he was never really around in the first place. In an our of jail, random getaways, etc.
But he left three young kids with a young mom, and an empty bank account.
You will make it work!
and I wish you so much of the best :]
