My DD usually only engages my DH for play if it's something like him throwing her up in the air/chase games. She brought him a book to read to her last night. She also wanted him to play blocks this weekend.
She's also moved to actually attending to books. She would put books in my lap to read for quite a long time but she was really more interested in turning the pages vs actually listening to the story. She will sit without demanding to turn the page and make good eye contact with me/look at the pictures.
DD1 has these little foam bath toys that are apple trees with five apples each. The other night during her bath, she lined three of them up and told me, "five plus five plus five equals 15!" And then counted to double-check herself.
I told her teachers this today, and they were thrilled -- they've been working on adding/substracting in class and she totally gets it.
This morning she got her coat on without being asked.
She's been more proactive in general lately -- letting the dogs in or out when they scratch, and she really loves to answer the phone. LOL. This week she talked to a solicitor from Edward Jones and told him all about getting a card in the mail from her grandma. I thought she was talking to DH and didn't realize until afterwards who it actually was!
My DS has learned how to do a wooden puzzle!!! We have been working on these puzzles for months and he can now put all the pieces where they belong and turn them so they fit correctly!! So proud of him!
DS1: 4/15/2011
Dx: ASD, SPD and receptive and expressive speech delay at 21 months
I had to go to the ER super early this morning. I got the baby fed and took him down to my mom's and I was really worried that Chris would be a handful for my mom since he kinda hates mornings. Well, when I called home my mom said that she said it almost seemed as if he knew something was going on and that he needed to cooperate. She said he didn't even fight brushing his teeth. DH came home for a few hours while I waited for tests and such and he also said Chris seemed very cooperative this morning - unusually so. He was very proud of him.
DS2 (3 with CP) rode a tricycle today in PT! YAY! He isn't able to steer but he has the leg strength to pedal!!!! I guess he just needed adaptive pedals!

Bragging for another mom - but my cousin age 9 who has CP went the whole week without using her walker at all at school for the first time!
For DD - even though it is just was just her inflection/imitation words - DD repeated "baseball" in her way yesterday - maybe I can teach her to say it on her own one day This is big for mama and it just gave me a great play idea using baseball cards! She likes looking at pictures and being told who people's names.
Re: BRAG DAY WEDNESDAY!!!!
