I used an ERGO with my first daughter, I got a ring sling while pregnant this time around and really want to use it but I am having some issues.
I think I have it through the rings correctly, I followed the directions a few times. I put the rings just under my shoulder and try to get it set up for baby to be put inside. I am assuming this is where my issue is because the part of the fabric that goes against my chest is sort of baggy. When I tighten it, it doesn't really help. Also I have so much slack on the loose end it almost goes to my feet.
I put baby in and try to tighten it but it won't really budge once she is inside. Also it does not go over her head for support. I try to adjust it but I'm not getting a secure hold.
Any tips or good videos online?
I think it will just take some practice too but I think there is just a step I am not doing correctly.
Re: ring sling help
Can you post a picture? The Sakura Bloom youtube channel has some good videos that would be worth watching. The key is to adjust as much as you can before putting baby in so you only have to make minor adjustments once baby is in.
You actually DO NOT want it over her head - it should come no higher than the midline of her ear. And I'd recommend only using an upright tummy to tummy and not a cradle carry (unless you are nursing but return to upright once you are finished nursing).
I have some tips on usage in my video here but I'd still check out the Sakura Bloom channel: https://www.becomingmamas.com/safety-considerations-for-newborn-babywearing/

I'm trying to master my RS as well. I took mine to a local new mom's group lead by a PP doula and she helped me get it all adjusted nicely and showed me how it worked (it's so simple really, but I was pretty stumped by it!).
The one thing that seemed to help me get the best adjustment was to pull each rail separately. If the bottom rail needs to be tightened, I just pull that part of the tail and then tighten the top with the other part of the tail, then I grab a bunch in the middle to tighten the middle of the wrap - does that make sense? The videos I've watched show ladies grabbing the whole tail and pulling but that hasn't worked with me.
Also, I don't always get LO in well, so I've had better luck with sometimes just taking her out and starting over instead of trying to adjust and adjust. Starting fresh often helps me get it right.
