Curious about HCG levels

I am still very early in this pregnancy, just over 5 weeks so I haven't gotten an ultrasound yet, which I will get one next month since we were on Clomid when we got pregnant but I have gotten a couple HCG levels drawn and when my dr called to give me the results of my second one he just kept saying he'll be interested to see the results of my sono since the level increased so rapidly... At 4weeks 4 days my level was 2,627 and less than 3 days later it was 7,157...anyone else have similar increases and end up with more than 1 or is my doctor just trying to make me go crazy thinking for the next few weeks haha :-) thanks for any input!! :-)

I think you'll find people here have experiences all over the place...some had high beta's and some had normal or even low. You might find beta's in people's signatures that did IF treatments, if you look through some posts. Alot of people on this board did not have IF treatments so never had beta's drawn.

Those do seem like high numbers though. Best of luck.

My numbers are in my signature (just add the numbers together for dpo) and I believe there is also a thread about betas on the FAQ. Betabase is also a good resource if you are curious. However, like PP said, betas can be all over the place and there are plenty on this board with betas on the lower end. Some say a good indicator of multiples is the doubling time, but that was not true in my case. While I did start out high (doubling time often slows as you reach the thousands), I didn't double in 48 hours, but always doubled in the normal range of 72. I would guess the best indicator of the likelihood of multiples would be your follicle counts and e2 levels at monitoring visits. Were you monitored during your cycle? Of course, an ultrasound is the best way to know, but I definitely understand the anxiety between the beta draws and the first ultrasound. GL and congrats on your pregnancy!

Ultimately the best way to know if you are having multiples is to have an ultrasound. They saw rather early on me that I was pregnant with twins when they thought that I could be having an ectopic pregnancy. Numbers are just numbers until you get an ultrasound.

My HCG levels are in my siggy. Add the 2 numbers together to get DPO. My levels were a little on the high side but still within normal ranges. There's just no telling until you get an ultrasound.

My levels actually didn't double like they were supposed to so my OB had me come in for an ultrasound at 6 weeks and that's when we found out about the twins!

Mine didn't double either - and MANY of the twin momma's I know didn't double either. I think that is more of a trend than HUGE HCG numbers...but as we all know, HCG doesn't predict multiples

Hey I don't know how many we had because they didn't do any ultrasounds to follow, we were just supposed to try 2 rounds of clomid before moving on to iui so it makes it a little harder to guess haha :-)
