Since my insurance covers an NT screening I decided to get one. I got one with my son and was glad I did because it all came back showing a healthy baby. I just had my NT ultrasound today and am so happy/relieved to know it's another healthy looking baby. However, they also looked at my anatomy to see that everything looked normal (which I don't remember them doing last time I was pregnant) and they found a 5.6 cm long cyst outside my ovary. Probably a paratubal cyst the doctor said. But because she's not trained in this area, I'd have to see a radiologist to find out more information about it.
She reassured me it wasn't endangering me or the baby, and that it was almost certainly benign. But that it should be checked out further.
I'm a little concerned of course, but also glad that I decided to get the NT scan so that I caught this cyst early. Another reason I hadn't considered for getting the NT scan done is making sure YOU are healthy as well as your baby.
If anyone else has experienced a paratubal cyst before, I'd appreciate any advise or info on how it affected you or your pregnancy.
Re: NT scan found a paratubal cyst
Thanks so much for the reply. The fact that your doctor wasn't concerned makes me feel better. Did your doc say how they plan to monitor the growth of the cyst? Will you get periodic ultrasounds or do they keep tabs on it another way?
I'll ask my own doc these questions too when I see him next week. I'm just curious in the meantime
