Pos test last night, neg today

I am 12DPO. Last night I had a decent line on a FRER & got a positive CB Digital at 7:30PM. Today I had my annual pap with my primary care physician scheduled and when I went to give my urine sample, there was a very small amount of blood when I wiped. I told them I had gotten a positive test and they ran one, but it came back negative. My doctor sent me for a beta draw and I will need to go back in two days for a re-draw.

Is is possible to have the hcg leave so quickly that the test today would be negative, or is it more likely that their test is less sensitive? Any words of wisdom?

I guess I'm just stuck playing the waiting game. Thanks for your time.

  • the urine tests at the drs office aren't as sensitive as the early results ones that we take at home. Just wait for the results of the first blood draw.

  • The doctor's test might be not as sensitive as the home HPT that you took. Keep testing. Also, did you use your first morning urine at the doctor's? (meaning, did you hold your water?)

If not, your urine may have been too diluted to register at the doc's.

FX that you get a BFP and that spotting stays away!

This I would consider drs test similar to cheap dollar store tests. I didn't get a positive on that type of test until I was three days late for period
  • typically an early response test will show a positive for an hcg as low as 5; however, a doctors office will not consider you clinically pregnant until you reach an hcg of 25. My prior pregnancy in November was a chemical pregnancy and after receiving the negative from the blood draw, the nurse advised me to wait until I was approximately a week late and to avoid using early response tests as they will show a positive even if it's not a viable pregnancy.

With that said, I would definately wait and see how the blood draws go. Because you did have an annual pap, it could cause light bleeding if you are pregnant because your cervix becomes more sensitive. Sending thoughts and prayers and good luck!

I peed when I got up this morning and didn't stupidly didn't test. Then I went at the dr's office about 3.5 hours later with only a smoothie for breakfast & a cup of water. The urine was fairly dark. When I got the pos on the digital, I had only held it about 2.5 hours.

I've had no more spotting. So I'm going to think positive and believe that it was just too early. Thanks so much everyone for your support.

  • I just spoke with my dr's office and my number was 50. So I go back on Friday to have it re-checked, along with other tests required for my health insurance.
