Any hybrid diaper moms out there?

I know we've talked gdiapers before, but I don't think we've talked disposal dgiapers. Maybe I'm wrong, in which case I apologize and please move on.

I'm pretty dead set on trying my hand at the hybrid gdiaper with the flushable inserts. Like dead set as in I already purchased a pack of inserts since they were on a crazy good sale and all.  Is anyone else using these? I know there are gdiaper moms among us who use these with the cloth inserts but I haven't heard any feedback on the flushables. I've read a boat load of reviews and watched youtube reviews but I was looking for some first hand May Mom input.

Do you like them? Do you soak your snap in liners before washing to prevent stains?

Anybody? Bueller?!

  • I really wanted to try gdiapers, but we're on septic, so we can't flush them anyway.

Somewhat off topic, but we will be taking a "hybrid" approach to diapering. Our daycare will only take disposables, but we plan to cloth diaper at home.

  • I never even gave it a thought that you couldn't flush these with a septic system. Luckily we don't have septic but good to know when visiting friends and family!!

  • Would love to hear the answer to this, as well.  Have been on the fence about giving them a try!

  • I'm set on trying them too.

    Hubby's not quite on board...

Neither was my husband. I had to remind him multiple times that you FLUSH the insert. He's very weirded out by cloth diapering and doesn't want to do it at all so this had him nervous. He's agreed to try it since it will lessen our waste and he won't have to deal with stinky diapers in the house ;) Good luck convincing your husband! We've decided to use regular disposables during the newborn stage since I've read reviews that they aren't ideal for newborns. Not to mention they grow out of the newborn size so quick it's hardly worth the investment...

  • we plan on using cloth, but i kind of fell in love with the cocalo perfect bum diapers, which are pockets, and they sell disposable inserts for these.

the diapers themselves are super cute and i like the anchored-pocket design.

i bought a giant box on sale at bru.

they aren't flushable, but they are made of wood cotton and are free of chlorine, plastics, etc.

oh hey now. in looking this up for this post i see the disposable inserts are majorly on sale at bru.... may need to pick up another box. ;)

  • I've been using gdiapers on DD for a few months in anticipation that I want to use them on the new baby. I am getting the hang of them. I do use the gcloth, but I'll have a stash of flushable liners to use when we are out and such. I really love them!

I do not soak the liners. You can use regular detergent on the shell and liners, but you have to use approved detergent for the cloth portion. I was using Tide Free and Clear... It was getting the cloth inserts clean but I felt like the liners were not getting clear and they were stinky. So I did some research, and found a homemade detergent of borax, washing soda and OxyClean, and it has worked wonders! There are other options if you don't want to make your own detergent, you just need to look online. Tide Free and Clear didn't do it for me though!
