Wednesday Bed Rest Check-In

Happy Hump Day!

1.  Any appts. or updates so far this week?

2.  I know there may be some lurkers on bed rest and I always get people asking me if I make "exceptions" for bed rest (I don't), please share what keeps you motivated or gives you hope during this tough time.

Re: Wednesday Bed Rest Check-In

  • 1.  Any appts. or updates so far this week?  So far this week, I've had one NST (baby girl gave us a scare, but she passed after a snack) and my appt. with my OB.  He's finally given up hope that Baby A will flip and is going to schedule a C-section (though he thinks I'll go into labor before then).  It's nice to have an "end date" though!

    2.  I know there may be some lurkers on bed rest and I always get people asking me if I make "exceptions" for bed rest (I don't), please share what keeps you motivated or gives you hope during this tough time.  In Dr. Luke's "When You're Expecting Twins...." book, there are graphics that show footprints and head circumference at different gestational ages.  I try to remember those whenever I feel restless and frustrated.  It helps to think of the next "step" for my babies.

ETA:  Totally got the title of the book wrong.

I don't make exceptions for bed rest either.  I had a prior 2nd tri loss and it really gave me a lot of perspective on pregnancy and what I'd be willing to do to have a healthy child.  I just think back to that time when I start to get frustrated and remind myself just how worse it could be.

Wow, sorry for the downer response.

It's honest and it's what makes you follow Dr.'s orders.  I know women who completely ignored bed rest instructions and I cannot fathom how any activity would be "worth it".

My heart goes out to you for your late loss.

Had my weekly ultrasound on Monday along with a doctor visit and NST and tomorrow I have another NST and doctor visit. I got the best report possible Monday but for some reason I just can't shake a bad feeling about tomorrow's visit.

My bed rest is modified with the goal being just to keep my blood pressure down. So no errands, no chores, no work of any kind but my doctor seems to be purposefully unclear about exactly how much I'm allowed to be sitting up and things like that. So I do spend the vast majority of my day laying on my left side but I don't feel bad about getting up to stretch for a couple of minutes a few times a day. When I'm having a rough time being cooped up in the house and laying down, I try to think about being one day closer to being able to have a normal birth and him being able to stay with me in the hospital when he is born.
