Birthmarks

My baby girl was born with two birth marks. One patchy spot is on her left ankle, and the other is a big spot on her left hip. Both are big & dark bluish like a bruise. The nurses at the hopsital said sometimes they will fade. These are clearly birthmarks and haven't faded. The one on her hip is quite large. I guess my DD won't be a bathing suit model! LOL! Oh well...no big deal. At least they aren't on her face.

How about stork bites or angel kisses? I hear they're common. My DD was born with an angel kiss on the corner of her right eyelid. It's not that big, but it's a reddish spot. I think it has faded since birth. It's not as noticeable now.

Does your LO have any birthmarks?

My little one does not, but he does has the cutest little freckle on his knee. I hope people know what a freckle is...I posted about them before and apparently there are a lot of people who don't know what they are! haha

What!! So funny what's common in one area but not in another.

We have a storks kiss on the back of her neck at her hairline. It's quite large but thankfully not a horrible location.

This is exactly what L has on the back of her head/neck, it's pretty big. DH has the same one in the same spot.

I don't know what any of these are! I've never heard these. I've heard freckles and birthmarks, but never a stork bite or angel kiss. Enlighten me?

Baby H has a stork bite on on right eyelid. It has faded some, but still looks like he got into a fight and has a shiner.

(Basically a stork bite are broken capellaries)

Evan has a small birthmark on his left calf. It's like the size of his thumb nail.

HAHA i know! It puzzles me as well. I have talked with several people who have no idea what a freckle is. College was the big one! People looked at me like i was making up words.

lol this is exactly what I was thinking.
Here is Noa about a week old with her angel kisses on her nose and forehead.

Ahhh, okay! I've seen those, just never heard the name for them. Much cuter than "red splotches"

Just something to think about... if the birthmark is bluish or doesn't fade, or looks like a bruise and not just red, it could be a Vascular Malformation. I was personally born with one on my face and my parents just assumed it was a port wine staine or angel kiss.... you can get laser treatments to lighten them, but there is a new treatment to actually cure them, which I had done while I was in college. Just keep an eye on them, especially if they get bigger.

Must be a common spot. DD has one there too. Once she gets some hair I don't think you'll be able to see it really.

W doesn't have anything, which is really weird! I have freckles (seriously, how do you not know what freckles are???!?) and two little birthmarks, and DH has a big birthmark. So how does kiddo not have anything? Maybe the freckles will come later? He's pale like me...

DD has a big Mongolian spot on her butt. It looks like a huge bruise! I never heard of that until the nurses told us at the hospital. Apparently they fade with time...
