I always cook my hubby dinner on the day (and it sucks ) then we usually celebrate on the weekend by going out. This year, we have to go to a wake so we are goint to go out to dinner after since Ill have no time to cook. Strangest v day ever for me.

We never go out to eat on Valentine's Day since it is always over-priced and way too crowded.
This year we are having over a couple over for dinner who is interested in learning more about becoming foster parents! Not the most romantic Valentine's Day, but I'm super excited to share our experience with them!
My answer to this is adoptionrelated...we are celebrating our sons first birthday! Finally a reason to not be annoyed by this holiday! We never celebrated in the past.
These are great! (Well, Ginger71--except for the wake---sorry...)
I'm still undecided about what we're going to do--- From mid-December-Feb. 1 we celebrate a bunch of stuff with holidays, anniversaries and bdays. Vday sometimes feels like overkill for us! I usually cook dinner, but I might have to work late this year--- ah well, something inspiring will come to me!
I have pottery class on Thursday nights, so that is what I will be doing. I will get my DH Godiva chocolate caramels (his favorite) and I have a card and dove chocolate hearts which get placed in the same tin bucket every year since we have been dating, but usually we don't do anything more than that every year. Going out on V-day just doesn't make sense since the restaurants are crowded and we can go out to eat anytime. In our house every day is Valentine's Day, do no need to make Feb 14th the only day to say "I love you"!

Hubby and I always celebrate the weekend after. So this Saturday he's planned an afternoon at an art gallery (believe it or not we actually like going to these things), and then he made reservations downtown Minneapolis at one of our favorite restaurants, Hell's Kitchen for dinner.
I'm hoping we have some amazing adoption news this week to celebrate as well.

My husband really loves Valentine's Day, but he has to work until 9 and so I'm off the hook for making big dinner (phew). I think I'm going to get a couple of those cute little single serve desserts that the supermarket sells and some berries to share. He'll like that.
We are waiting until Saturday night and going out with my best friend and her husband to RPM which is Giuliana & Bill Rancic's restaurant. I never really like Guiliana, but then when her show came out with Bill and they were going through all their infertility struggles together on the show(it was the same time I was going through mine) I felt so connected with her and like I knew her. I admire how open she was about it so people like me don't feel alone and how strong they stayed and then on top of her getting diagnosed with breast cancer during the IVF and both of them still doing their jobs..ect. I think they are an amazing couple and I hope they are there Saturday night!(they go often).

We are going out to dinner at Carabbas on the 15th. We aren't huge V-day celebrators. We actually exchanged gifts this past weekend during the blizzard. I got him a family established sign with our married last name, and he got me one of the photos from our favorite Irish artist that I had placed on our wedding registry. I won't lie, I can't help but give him cards from the dog and cats in lieu of children. He always smiles.

What kind of pottery do you do? I'm about to embark on a wheel throwing class with my mama.
I am learning both the wheel and hand building. First time I have taken a pottery class and it is much harder than it looks, but it is very fun. Go for it, definitely lets you relieve some stress and just focus on being one with your clay. Just took my first finished piece home yesterday from my intro class and looking forward to seeing how the rest comes out, but the glazing class isn't for another two weeks.

My birthday happens to be on Sunday, so we are celebrating V-day and my 29th with a fancy italian diner at a restaurant we've never been to before. My husband and I are pretty huge foodies, so we love having a reason to treat ourselves.

My daughter has swim class that night, so we will be celebrating at the YMCA. LOL We decided not to do gifts for each other, but we did get our daughter a little something. She also has been working on homecards for us. :-)

Berries. Have a great time.

How about dipping fruit in melted bittersweet chocolate? Either as fondue or as premade hardened chocolate covered fruit.
German desserts tend to be less sweet.
