Yes! I really like Holly. It's one of the few slightly-80s names that feels fresh and ready to use again. Overall, I think botanical names are lovely, and Holly now seems like a familiar but unexpected choice.
My DD is Holly, so I obviously love it, she refers to herself as Holly Dolly.
As far as the friends, guess it would depend on how close we are and how much I love the name. If I found out I was pregnant and it was a girl I would ask them if I was really worried hey would be offended.
Would you use it if your friends want to use it if they ever have a girl but probably never will?
If it was THE name, yes.
But, in the name of sensitivity, IF there were other names that I like just as much or more I would maybe pick one of those names.
At the risk of seeing creepy...what happened to Morgan?
Morgan is still in the running! Not creepy just shows you pay attention!
If we did use Holly, we would definitely ask them about it since they are close friends!
Oh good! I love Morgan with your DD's name-- lovely sibset.

My DD is a Holly :-) So, obviously I like it! I think it's a solid classic name that's never mispronounced or misspelled. I also don't know any other kids named Holly (adults, yes, but no other kids), so I like that. I can't imagine her with any other name. She's definitely a Holly.
On the friend issue--it would really depend on how close you are with the person, how likely it is that they'd have another kid, etc. My best friend has 3 boys, and will definitely not be having any other kids. She has a a girl name she's always loved, and planned to name a girl if she would have had one, and I probably still would not use it, personally.

Agree, it's not bad. But I associate it with jennifer, jessica, amanda, etc from the 80's since I know a few Holly's of that age.

I think it is a great name. Not popular but known enough to not be one of those out there names.
I went to school with 3 Holly's and I am also a Holly.
