Hello ladies! So...we have decided we are going to use a KD. We had a very long discussion last night with KD and his wife and they want exactly what we want when it comes to this situation. He donates purely to help us have a family. They don't want to interfere with any parenting or even be listed first as guardians over our own family. It was a really amazing conversation. They had trouble ttc (she had issues) but were successful after only 1 IUI procedure. We found out last night that his SA was through the roof (to the point where the RE told him she hasn't seen numbers like that before), so that was very positive.
That said, after we get through all of the legal stuff, and actually start trying, we are going to bypass the RE (since we don't know if I will have trouble or not) and try the ICI at home. Do any of you have experience with this? If so, where can I find supplies/advice on how to be successful?
Re: ICI
Hi there.
My partner is now 30 weeks pregnant (!) and we did unmedicated, at home ICI. Our midwife showed us how to do it safely and gave us a speculum from her clinical practice as well as a few sterile syringes and "tomcat" catheters. You can also buy all of these things on the internet.
If you haven't already, I recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It taught us SO much about charting, timing, and what a ripe cervix looks like.
Best of luck to you.
