How's my registry list look?

Sorry this is long but am a FTM and wanted to get some feedback on my registry list. Are there items on here I don't really need? Am I missing anything? The items in parenthesis are ones I've put on my registry - any feedback on the quality of these items would be greatly appreciated.  Also, if anyone has any recommendations of items/brands they like that I didn't list are welcome too. Thanks so much!

    Nursery

Crib bumper - register for the breathable bumper. we used one and it was nice to keep her paci when she had that, or her arms/legs from sticking out the slats. wont have padding but they dont roll hard enough to need it.

    Bedding

Playard sheets? - do get sheets. i doubled mine incase she spewed or what not, easier than having to wipe down and dry the pad. i also put a waterproof pad under it - like the changing pad sized ones

    Travel

Convertible car seat  (Britax Roundabout 55 Convertible Car Seat) - just be sure to watch expiration dates

Full size stroller (Chicco Cortina Stroller?) - If i could suggest - I saw you below are looking at a snap and go - check out the Chicco Keyfit 30 carseat + base. Rated very well - and will snap into the Cortina stroller. We have this system and really like it. In fact I still will pull it out, despite having a lightweight stroller, for certain trips when i want more storage space.

Travel system stroller (Graco SnugRider Elite)

Shopping cart and high chair cover (Jeep brand) - i loved mine and still use it

    Safety/health

Thermometer - look for a rectal one . we have a 3 in one (one head for each area Wink that we really like and works very well (armpit, rectal and mouth)

Nasal aspirator - nosefrida is awesome

Teething tablets - not sure how warnings are now, but we never found these necessary and for how many times they have been pulled of shelves. our Pedi advised against them

    Snot remover - nose frida?

    Feeding

bottles - a variety to start can be a good idea before investing in a full supply of one type

Burp cloths  -Gerber cloth diapers are amazing as burp cloths.

Pacifiers - grab a few types, you never know what baby will/wont take to

High chair (Fisher-Price Space Saver High Chair) - we really liked ours.

    Diapering

Baby powder - not really recommended anymore. if you do use, be careful not to shake so the powder isnt inhaled by baby

Diaper pail - before we switched to cloth, we used the arm & hammer pail - was awesome. no smells.

Portable changing pad - some diaper bags come with one so watch for that!

    Misc

Baby carrier (sling/wrap) - be specific. Skip baby bjorn - causes hip problems in baby and sucks for comfort ive heard. I love my Beco, others love Ergo for soft structured carriers

would also add furniture straps/stabilizers so you can attach dresser/bookcase to the wall so it doesnt tip if climbed on

i added thoughts and what we preferred, not saying my thoughts are the end all be all, but specifics to me were nice to hear the first time around!

  • You don't need a bumper - it is recommended not to use them so really they are a waste of $.  What is the positioner you have listed under feeding?  Also, fyi, standard baby powder is not recommended for use with babies - I do use it with my pre schooler now to ge sand off, but never even felt the need for it for diapers.

You may want to look at sleep sacks, a noise machine, baby sun hat.  I used blankets in the stroller and for LO to st on, and now that they are older, they use them.  s

  • i looked quickly, so sorry if someone mentioned or you had it:

-zippered plastic mattress cover (to be extra safe against leaks)

-sound machine (i love my $20 bed bath & beyond homedic one)

    -fan (for SIDS)

-blackout curtains (optional but my kid needs them)

    -crib skirt

-wipe warmer (sounds silly but necessary, cold wet wipes on your bum can't feel good)

-side button onesies for the first few weeks (recommended by my hospital, see here (https://www.amazon.com/Gerber-Sleeve-Side-Snap-Shirt/dp/B0028K2R2E)

    - car mirror to see baby in reversed car seat

    - stroller rain cover (if it doesn't come with the stroller)

    -nipple cream for breastfeeding

    -manual/hand pump

-hot/cold bag for carrying cold milk with you outside (need ice packs too)

    - dishwasher caddy for bottle parts

    - for feeding bibs i highly recommend the baby bjorn rubber bib, is dishwasher safe and the best

    - swaddles- get the velcro ones so the wrap stays tight, i hated the non-velcro

    - jumperoo (loved my FP ocean wonder one)

    - baby hat

    -boppy & cover?

    - bottle drying rack for your kitchen counter

    -saline nose spray

    -sleep sacks

  • Get mesh bumpers if you use them at all.

No blankets in the crib, but you might want them to hold baby in if you are out at a restaurant etc.

Baby powder was not recommended for use on newborns by my pediatrician. If they get the powder in their lungs it can cause breathing problems. You don't need it.

I would get some buttpaste or other diaper rash cream in lieu of the powder.

The gas drops and teething tablets were useless in my experience. Gripe water wasn't terribly useful for us either. A lot of these products are sold to make money off of new moms and aren't terribly effective IMHO.

If you are registering for safety gear this early make sure to get toilet locks.

You might want to register for a bath chair for the very beginning vs. a tub. It helps keep baby upright (so they don't startle and aspirate water) and its really easy to use in the sink for the first year or so. We still use it for DD. Especially after messy meals or a diaper blow out. You can clean them a lot easier, IMHO. Baby bath tubs are ok, but I found ours to be awkward and hard on me to use.
