Baby is taking his first flight tomorrow! He is a pretty easy going little guy for the most part, but I would love to hear what your biggest advice would be if you have travelled with your LO??

Babywear! It made getting through the airport and on/off the plane so much easier! You have to take baby out of the carrier for takeoff and landing, but that wasn't a big deal for us typically, if we're seated, DS doesn't want to be in the Ergo, he wants to be standing on our legs or something.
Also, bring a variety of small toys song baby gets bored with one, you've got something new.
Also love the BFing comment I've done that on every flight.
These are great suggestions! I was planning on definitely baby wearing (do that all the time anyways!) and breast feeding during the ups and downs. Happy to hear that will hopefully help his little ears. Awesome about the gate checking of the carseat!
... Here's hoping the flight isn't full and DS can have his own seat!
to those who BFed in the plane: how difficult was this with (potentially) a stranger sitting next to you? I'm not really all that squimmish with BFing in public, but I barely feel like there is enough room for me to sit on a plane typically, let alone try to feed!!

With BFing in public on a plane, I brought a BF cover and sat in the window seat, no problem keeping covered there. The guy next to me didn't even know I was doing it.
I flew southwest and they let you take a stroller and carseat as free gate checks. I just wheeled her all the way to the terminal with our carryon under the stroller. I did babywear to get her on to the plane.
My advice? A gate check bag. I got one cheap from target. It's a big red bag with a zipper that you put the carseat in. If it's raining, this will keep your seat from getting wet and dirty as it's loaded not so gently under the plane.
Pack a small kit of diaper changing items... if you have to get up and change LO's diaper, you will be carrying your LO, purse, and diaper bag into a tiny room. Not fun. If you prepare ahead of time with a little kit in your purse or diaper bag in a seperate ziplock that only holds enough for 1 diaper change, it makes the change much easier.
I tried wearing mine through security and they let me. But they also made me be swabbed for explosive residue because he was in carrier. On the way home I carries him on my hip througho no problem. Put carrier back on after security. We gate check our infant seat and snap and go when we travel and onl use that as stroller.
If you let your neighbor know you plan to nurse sometimes they move. When I fly without baby for work I let folks know I plan to pump in flight. Usually earns me more room as they request a move from flight attendent if not full.
