Did anyone have success with EPO?

I spoke to my OB about this yesterday, and he told me to speak with the practices midwife about dosage. I am wondering if anyone has used it for ripening and if you think it helped. I am getting induced if I do not go by 40 weeks (personal decision), but not if I need cervadil. I wanted to give this a try.

I only took it orally, but I don't think it did anything for me. At 3 days before my due date I was only 1cm. I was stuck at 1cm for about 3 weeks. And your OB can induce you using a foley bulb instead of cervadil. That's what my dr did this time around as I was attempting a VBAC.

I started using it at 36 weeks, orally. Started vaginally at 38 weeks. I was 1cm at 39, 40, and 41 weeks.

Didn't help much, ha.

I took it to help with a VBAC attempt. I took it orally at 34 weeks, then vaginally at 36 weeks. I never softened or dilated and had a RCS at 40.5 weeks.

I also recommend the Foley Bulb. Mine was inserted at 41weeks 3 days at 4:30pm and by 9pm it fell out and I was at 4cm. This was all done while I was at home attempting my VBAC which successful.

I started taking it orally at 36 weeks and tried it vaginally a few times but couldn't stand the copious discharge.

I don't know if it was the EPO, the acupuncture, the long walks, pumping for nipple stimulation or just God's perfect timing but I went into labor at 39 weeks, hours before I was scheduled to be induced.

I say, go for it. It can't hurt if you take a reasonable dose!

i took a dosage orally twice a day vaginally once at night starting at week 38 i delivered at 39w 6d. i was 1cm dilated 40 effaced when i started. i don't know if it helped put me into labor but i do think it helped to prevent tearing.

Thanks everyone! The midwife at my OBs said 2 500 mg until 38 weeks and then either 3-4 orally OR 1 vaginally. I thought you did both? I'll follow her instructions, but have not read that anywhere...

I started using it at 37 weeks I think. 1000 mg a day orally. It didn't seem to help me any but I'd take it again for the next pregnancy anyway since it doesn't hurt.
