Sob..Packing clothes away..

I started to cry as I began packing away all their clothes, especially their newborn stuff! They are 6 months old and wear size 18 and 12 months so I have to get the other sizes out. This is it for me so it makes me tear up. Anyone else get this way?

Re: Sob..Packing clothes away..

  • Yes, I saved a few outfits for them and a few for my daughter to use on a doll one day. We rotate clothes between myself my sister in law and her 2 sisters so they will be used. But I agree, just sad!

  • ::raises hand:: DH found me in tears surrounded by baby clothes a few years ago. I did keep some special items and preemie clothes.

  • Not alone in that. This is likely it for us as well. I had to go through their NB clothes the other day to pull out their coming home outfits for their shadow boxes and got a little emotional looking at how tiny they used to be.

  • Same here!  Mine were preemies and I can't stop looking at those tiny outfits now.  It blows my mind how small they were.  I don't know if I can bring myself to part with any of it yet though.  I keep packing it all away.  I am 44 years old so I know I won't have any more.  I just can't bring myself to let go yet!

  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one!  I still have their sweet little newborn sleepers in their top drawer.  I have the girls and two teenagers - the last thing I need is another baby but boy those little clothes can make me think about it.

  • Oh yes. I had a major meltdown when we went from preemie/newborn to 3 months. Each time I convert the closet I still get teary. It really hit me when I was just in the store buying 9 month pj's. it hit me that the next size I will be buying is 12 months. Where is the time going? (Choking up now.....)

  • No actual tears, but I have a hard time each size we grow out of. We have a small house with limited storage, so I am constantly getting rid of stuff we are done with. This is it for us, too, and the permanence feels weird sometimes. I didn't think I would be emotional about it.

I think I had the hardest time most recently when I had to start looking for clothes in the toddler section for my DS vs. the baby section. I am buying 18 month sale stuff for him for spring already!

I've saved a few of my favorites from each stage so far. Even an 'N' diaper :)  It's crazy to look back on how tiny they once were already .

  • Oh my goodness. yes!  We started with preemie things, then 3 months, etc.  Our girls are wearing their age in size, so I have been going through it every 3 months LOL.  *tear*  I kept a couple of items from each size, just because I am not ready to part with them yet.  The rest I give away to a friend of mine who had twins about 5 months behind me.

  • I got completely emotional also.  I kept some of my favourite pieces of clothing and sold the rest.  I just couldn't part with all of them. <3
