Feeling movement from the outside

I just started being able to feel small kicks and flutters last week.  I can't seem to find any type of consenus on when DH should be able to feel LO kicking too.  What are your experiences?

Re: Feeling movement from the outside

  • I felt kicks from the outside around 20-21 weeks last time.  It took a long time before DH was able to feel them because it happened infrequently at first.  This time I felt a few kicks from the outside starting a few days ago.  I can't wait until it starts happening more!

  • My uterus is tilted. So H was never able to feel them from the outside. However, we were able to see DD roll around towards the very in. Honestly, it kind of freaked me out lol.

  • With this pregnancy and no anterior placenta this time, I have been feeling him move sooner. On Friday, I was hugging my Mom goodbye and we were belly to belly and she felt him kick, looked at me all wide-eyed and said "I think I just felt the baby kick me!" So we hugged again and she felt him kick again..she was amazed! So I sat down on the couch and she put her ear up to my belly and started talking and it took a minute, but she felt him kick her ear. It was so funny! Didn't feel much with DD because I had an anterior placenta so this was her first time feeling a grandchild kick. It hasn't happened yet for DH..but he doesn't really sit and talk to the belly Embarrassed

  • I felt outside kicks around 20 weeks with my son but DH wasn't able to feel them until I was 24 weeks. By then I could actually press on my belly and get the baby to move when I wanted him to.

My ute is tilted too and I figured that might change things.

  • With DD it took DH forever.  He wasn't too confident about knowing what was a kick or not.  I would swear he should have been able to feel something and he would say he didn't.  It was something like 26+w until he felt her.

He just felt this LO a couple nights ago at 19.5w :)

  • With DS, I had an anterior placenta so DH felt him once when I was 8 months. I barely felt DS myself, which always had me so nervous. This time, I have a posterior placenta so I have been feeling kicks for a month. I even felt her roll once. I am excited that DH and I will experience lots of movement this time.

  • I felt movement with my hand last Monday, and DH felt it the day after, so a week ago, around 18w4-5d. I started feeling little flutters/twitches about 16-17w, so it progressed pretty quickly. They're still very small, but definitely there - as a FTM, I didn't expect it so soon!

My uterus is tilted- or at least it was my first pregnancy. (don't know if that changes or not).  Anyway- so if it is tilted, I won't be able to feel anything from the outside the whole pregnancy?  Just curious.  thanks.

Good question.  I just assumed that it probably always was and will be tilted, but I don't know.  I just know that my OB said it wasn't anything to worry about.

  • This is my second LO and i started feeling flutters around 15 weeks, kicks around 16.5-17 weeks and my DH felt the first movement from the outside at about 18.5 weeks. Hope this helps!
