MoM groups in local areas???

Hi.

Ive heard some ppl refering to MOM groups in their area and I was trying to find one but havnt gotten/seen much info online.

I saw one group that didnt seem geared towards moms with twins+ and it also mentioned a  $25 fee which is not a lot really but I feel odd about paying a fee to be part of a 'club' that is supposed to be about support.

If anyone has some info please post about this!!

I dont know Anyone with twins so I feel completely alone in having someone to talk to about it.

TIA

  • I live in a major city and actually joined 2 MoMs clubs... they both have annual dues of $25 which go towards events and club fees (website hosting, consignment sales venue rental, meeting venue rentals, etc.)

  • I am a member of a multiples club- there are dues to belong- the fees are divided between the National MOTC, the state MOTC and the club I belong to.  The fees go to support events, outings, and literature/speakers.  I don't feel it is uncalled  for to pay - in reality a small  fee to belong to a club.  My yearly dues are only $30.
  • There are a couple where I live in different parts of the city.  I think I pay $30 a year and I find it worth it.  Mine is a multiples club so caters to twins and more.  They have an online presence with boards like this and you can buy and sell, they have social events with and without kids. They have an annual consignment sale and if you are a member you can shop early. I've enjoyed being part of it.

  • Where do you live? In Jacksonville we have a specific MoM's group. You do have to pay to join but it's because it's a non-profit and it helps put on events, maintain website, etc. Otherwise we have ZERO funding - so don't let a fee discourage you from joining a group. I have LOVED LOVED LOVED the group. There are playdates, mom nights out, meetings, elist, support. It's been so awesome.

  • Ty eveyone. That sounds reasonable. I just wasnt familiar with the different activities etc. I thought it was just a group that exchanges/shares info, has some play dates and things like that.

I will search some more. =)

  • I found my local group through a google search.  They let you join for free while you are expecting but then after your trial period there are annual dues.

  • Our dues are 30. It's definitely worth it for me. We have a great time, and we use some of our money on service projects for multiple birth awareness month and Mother's Day gifts for twin moms with babies in the NICU.

  • I think our dues are $40?  I can't remember.  My group two resales a year, adopts families for the holidays, has a preemie closet you can borrow from, and lends out nursing pillows.  They offer bed rest support and mommy mentors  The group offers a lot of support for expectant mothers and new parents and does a lot of community outreach, so I don't mind the dues.
