Two Under 2

are you getting a double stroller?

question....my DS is 21 months but very busy!

LO - DS2 is 3 weeks...i have a single jogger and i'm wondering if i should bother with a double stroller at this point.

i also don't know how to go out with both kids if i don't have one! because DS2 is still in the bucket carseat and its winter i don't want to have to take him out of there all the time to lay him in the stroller and then put DS1 in the front kangaroo seat attachment of the stroller.

just wondering if anyone managed without one or what you'd recommend!

thanks

Re: are you getting a double stroller?

  • Completely up to you.  I'm a big baby wearer so I was fine when DD2 was born in December without a double.  I wore DD2 and used the stroller( if needed) or shopping cart with DD1.  My girls are 18 months apart.  I do own a double bob now but that made trips to the park easier since it's a bit of a walk for DD1.

  • My kids are 20 months apart and I used our double a TON. DD was born Nov 28th so it was cold weather and I do enjoy baby wearing but it just was nice to have the double. There were times I would use the double but wear DD and it was nice to have the extra space for all our stuff. We still use the stroller on a regular basis even with DS being almost 3 now.

  • I have used my double an absolute ton. At least 3 - 4 times a week. We've a dog so we're out for hour long walks with her at least 3 times a week and often we'll walk to Montessori, friend's houses, the park, into town or down to the lake.

It's totally up to you and what will suit your lifestyle. I have the Mountain Buggy Duet but I'm selling it currently and getting the Duo (https://mountainbuggy.com/en/buggies/double/duo) instead as the wheels are a bit bigger and more suited to the terrain around our town. I'll be getting the carrycot and the carseat adaptor so if we're going for a long walk, bubba can sleep in the carrycot and if we're just doing some jobs in town, bubba can stay in the carseat. I absolutely love Mountain Buggy strollers. But I live in a lakeside alpine town so we use ours on proper off-road terrain probably 90% of the time.

  • My girls are 15.5 months apart and I used our double a lot. It is only recently that I am thinking of looking at a sit-n-stand or just switching down to a single. I enjoy babywearing, but I found the stroller to be a lot more convenient for our outings and I liked having an option for both kids to be contained.

  • We aren't going to get one, at least not right away anyways.

DD Barley uses her stroller as it is....I honestly can't even remember the last time we used it.

When we go for walks we always put her in her wagon.  We don't reallly go to the mall with her because it's such a hot mess, so we go shopping when we have a baby sitter.

One day maybe we will get one.  But as of right now, we are winging it!

  • Yes, I got one.  A Zooper Tango.  During the summer last year I loved taking DD for walks to the park that is a couple miles away.  I imagine I will when DD2 arrives as well.  It is also a must for the mall or small trips in Target for me--DD hates carts most times and doesn't listen to direction well enough yet for me to trust her to walk--she'll be 22m when DD2 arrives.

  • I bought a double BOB only becaue I want to run with both of them (23 months apart). If it wasn't for running I would have tried to wing it without it until I found the need for one, if ever.

Right now I don't need a double when we're out and about.  If we're running errands I wear DD2 while DD1 sits in the cart or walks.  For outdoor places like the park and zoo we'll bring the wagon.  Sometimes we'll load up the double but not for DD1--for extra storage! That's when it really comes in handy.

  • I got one (actually 2) doubles because mine are only going to be 16 months apart and I cannot trust my DD not to run away or walk off.  She's a wanderer and just too young to know to mind and stay close.  She also stinks at holding hands and likes to run so it was a must for me.  We walk a lot in our neighborhood and travel quite a bit so this was a no brainer for us.  We got the Bumbleride Indie Twin and Valco Snap Dual.  The Indie Twin is our main stroller for walks, all terrain, the park, etc and the Snap Dual is for the car and travel.

  • My girls are 18 months apart and I used our double stroller (Bumbleride Indie Twin) everyday for the first year after DD2 was born. Ours is a side by side and was compatible with our infant seat. All I had to do was buckle her infant seat to the stroller seat and we were good to go.

  • I plan on just getting a really good carrier (hopefully an Ergo), and using the stroller I already have, since I paid 200 bucks for it (and the car seat). I haven't really gotten to use the stroller since it is way too cold out for me to walk outside yet, so I want to get some use out of it.
