I never had a 6-pack or even a flat tummy before baby so I can't give advice on that. But if you mean how to get them working again when they feel like you have nothing there after baby I can help there some.
I stay away from crunches still because I want to make sure the muscle completely heals from beings stretched out. I also do my best to keep a very tight core in all activities - walking, up/down stairs, laundry, etc. to get it used to being activated again. Also, I do planks, bridge, mountain climbers, inch worms and exercises on hands and knees to encourage co-contraction of all the core muscles.
They still aren't back, but it's getting there slowly and surely. Hope that helps.
