Sign of labor?

I am 37 weeks and 3 days and have been feeling a really dull ache, sort of like period pain, in my lower regions. I thought it would go away, but has been there for almost 2 hours now. I've had Braxton Hicks for a month now, so I don't think it's a contraction, but not quite sure if it's the beginning of labor. Anyone else have this feeling?

  • Well, because everyone is different, it maybe wise just call your OB and talk to the nurse or doctor about it. They have you come in for a quick once over. This is my first, so, that is what I would do.

  • I had that pain a few days ago, and it turns out I just needed to go #2.  But everyone is different, if you are concerned I would call in.

  • Youll know labor when it starts. It could be the beginning of it, who knows, but not a reason to call IMO. Mine stresses to call when your water breaks or when you have consistent contractions 5 minutes apart for an hour or more.

  • I have been having this a lot lately, this last weekend especially- I read someone say that their MW claimed these types of aches lead to dilation/softening- not sure how much of that I believe but I went in today and was 1cm/50% so maybe there's something to it? If it's increasingly painful, doesn't go away while drinking water and laying down, or starts coming rhythmically I would call your doctor. And heck- call them anyway if you're concerned, that's what they are here for. My OB told me to call her if contractions were 7 minutes apart (this is #2 and it comes quicker) even if they weren't that painful and she'd have me come in and get checked. If I didn't live 45 minutes away and have a 4yo DD to handle I would take her up on that but I'd rather stick it out if I can.
