Officially done with work

I just got home from my 36 week appointment and my OB told me that I have to stop working now. My last day was supposed to be the 16th anyway so it isn't too early, but I'm just surprised it's here so soon. My feet are *really* swollen so she told me I need to rest with them elevated most of the time. My blood pressure is good and I don't have any signs of pre-e, but she just wants me to rest. I have a feeling I'm going to be very thankful for Law and Order marathons and Netflix over the next coming weeks. I'm getting even more excited for our baby to be here. I can't wait to meet him!

  • Congrats! Enjoy your "me" time!!

I go for the 35 week appt tonight and I am hoping they can do the same! My legs are swollen every night, my sciatica is killing me and I have what feels like a stomach bug. I would love to be done!! Keep your fingers crossed!

  • My sciatica was really prevalent back in November and December and then disappeared, until last week when it decided to return. I am pretty excited about all the "me" time I'll get now, it's just weird to me that I won't be working until 2 months after he's born. I think I feel better about being pregnant now that I know I won't have to exert myself too much every day.

  • I am way jealous.  I am working up until my due date if not a few days past.  I need to in order to be able to spend the most amount of time home after she is born before I return to work.  The running joke is that I am going to give birth on my desk and my baby is going to be the new high school mascot.

  • My doctors are both phenomenal! I am so lucky to have them. I know some people prefer male doctors but there are 2 in the practice I go to and they are both women and extremely awesome.

  • Hmmm, not sure why everyone is jealous, unless you aren't planning on working after baby is born, being home before baby is born is hard b/c then it cuts into your STDisability or FMLA...I worked up until 2 days before both kids, not sure i could have stayed at home. Medical reasons are important, but otherwise, its pretty boring just sitting at home waiting for something to happen :)

  • I'm jealous- but then again if I got taken out of work, I'd be chasing DS around all day so who knows what's easier lol.  I will be working right up to the bitter end if I'm able.

  • I agree! Ihave not been working for the majority of pgy and now I fear that my body hasnt been active enough to have a speedy delivery. I worked with my last pregnancy six yrs. Ago up to the end and baby came so quick and easy, I feel it was due to my physical activity. You workers have a real advantage, it will pay off for your deliveries I believe. GOOD LUCK!
