Harmony test?

My OB said that I'll have my NT scan at 1113 weeks. She also said that I could have his Harmony test done around the same time. Anyone have this test done?

Looks like its a version of the Materni21 test, basically a cell-free dna test where they assess the baby's dna via your blood. They give 99% probability of the major trisomies, like Down's, Edwards, as well as Turner's syndrome. Bonus, you can find out the gender. Sometimes insurance doesn't cover it, though many outfits are keeping it cheap ($200vs. $3000) in order to eventually get insurance to cover them. We did it, and are waiting for results.

What 2Mamaz said is exactly right. It is a non-invasive and very accurate test for T13, T18, and T21 (Down's). I did the MaterniT21, which is just another "brand" of test that uses the same technology. There are three major ones--Verifi, Harmony, and MaterniT21.

I had the Harmony test done instead of the NT scan. It is the same as MaterniT21 and checks for trisomies 21, 18 & 13. The only difference was if I wanted to know the sex of the baby it was an extra $150, the rest was covered by my insurance. I believe Mat21 bundles sex determination in along with the trisomies. I decided to save my money and wait for the anatomy scan.

Mine came back low risk for all 3 trisomies and it's great peace of mind.

ETA: Harmony is $795.00 if your insurance doesn't cover it. I checked in advance. Integrated Genetics, a Labcorp Specialty group administers the test. You can look up their website and under patient info is a phone number. Ask for the billing codes for the Harmony test, I think they are called CPT codes? Give those numbers to your insurance, they can let you know what coverage you have.

I had mine done this morning. I had to meet with a genetic counselor before they took my blood. I had the NT done a little over a week ago (I was around 12 weeks and they dated me at 13). I decided to get the Harmony/MaterniT21 test done just to cover all of my bases. I should expect to get my results back in 10 business days.

The genetic counselor told me that the Harmony and MaterniT21 test are basically the same test but that they are called different names depending on who does it/which lab is doing it.

All they did was take 2 test tubes of blood.

Thanks for your response. Did your insurance cover this test? Horizon is giving me the run around and told me to submit a pre-determination form for review first. Jumping through hoops...
