Preemies

chances on having another preemie question

This is just a question, I am not trying and don?t plan on trying to have another child due to other complications with me I had while pregnant it is recommended for me not to have another child. So I am hoping you guys might know the answer.

I have a bicournute uterus and had a previous late term miscarriage (14-16weeks) about 15 years ago (they are thinking it was because of my uterus baby was on the left), I had a double leep done about 1.5 years before I became pregnant with my DD (she was on my right). I gave birth to my DD at 31weeks, my cervix went to a 1.8 at 28 weeks and by 30 weeks it was nonexistent, my water broke at 31 weeks she was born 2 days later.

My Question is if I were to become pregnant again are my chances higher on having a preemie ? if so is it higher he/she would be earlier or is there a good chance of he/she being born later.

I don?t even know why I would like an answer to this question; I know I will never have another child unless god decided, because my husband would never consider doing this again (this was a very bad pregnancy). I say god because my eggs are no good without medication, I was given a 1 in every 7 years scenario, that I might produce a viable egg on my own. I guess I am just sad she will never have a brother or sister (I think baby fever is setting in) I have had this question since she was born, but since I no longer see our OB or RE, I have no one to ask.

Thank you

Re: chances on having another preemie question

  • At your yearly gyn appointment I would ask your doctor what they thought of the changes of having another preemie. Like for instance in my case, I had DD1 at 33w due to pre-e and I was told I could/would most likely have her early a 33% chance due to pre-e. We did decide to have another baby and I did deliver her early, but not before 33w, instead at 34w and this time due to PTL. I definitely make an appointment to see your gyn and if they can't give you an answer, then I contact a MFM and set up a pre-conception appointment.
