So this is why I didn't want ANYONE to know the names we picked out. We are team green so we picked a boy and girls name (obviously). Anyways, for the boys name we chose a middle name that is DH family name to continue the tradition. In honor of my abuela and my aunt who is also my God mother we chose her name for a girls middle name. The name was supposed to be my name as well but my grandma talked my mom out of it. ANYWAYS, DH told MIL the name and she doesn't like it so of course DH is 'second guessing' the name. WTF.
What are your opinions on Amelia Esperanza (last name is german). She thinks that the name is too spanish and we need to change it um Amelia is german not spanish! Esperanza means Hope in English. I was the one that said Amelia Hope to begin with but DH was the one that doesnt like Hope for a mn and suggested Esperanza but now because of MIL is not sure. I already told my dad and he was so happy. He is from Spain but grew up in Venezuela and when we moved to the USA he only saw his mom once until she passed away. I thought this would be a great way to honor her.
Sorry...I just needed to vent!
Re: MIL and name vent
Hang in there... DS1 came home without a name because DH second guessed. And we ultimately went with what we were originally thinking!
Easy.
Tell MIL and H you're second guessing the boy's middle name, and that you think it's too "...".
That'll shut him up.
I completely agree with this! I LOVE Amelia!! And it sounds great with Esperanza!
this! haha. how would he feel if YOU shared the name that was personal to him and his family and were second guessing it based on someone else's reaction? Amelia Esperanza is beautiful! Esperanza is my husband's abuelita's name, too!
Love the name, it's great that it has that kind of meaning to you. It's doesn't matter what MIL thinks too bad. My Mom doesn't like the middle name we picked n I told her too bad we love it, she keeps telling me to change it but I tell her no.
Like it was said above tell him you are having 2nd thought about the boy name you picked, n if he changes the girl you get to change the boy name too.
