Per the pediatrician I was told to start feeding my ds cereal so he can get used to a different consistency and eating off a spoon. Well it was a complete failure he HATEd it and cried and spit it all out. Any advice on how to get him to eat it and keep it down?
Re: Cereal
We were told to try again a week later if it didn't work out the first time. Could you maybe try mixing it with even more formula, so he may not notice the difference?
No offense to the poster, but please don't do this. It will train your child to only want sweet things and he/she will spend the rest of his/her life battling a sweet tooth. You should start with rice cereal, then add veggies, then add sweet things like fruit last. They need to develop palettes for savory flavors.
This. Also, DS hated the rice cereal even with formula mixed in so we tried the oatmeal and he loved it. Give it some time, there's no rush.
At the 4 months check up our pediatrician recommended we start trying solids. We tried rice cereal that Saturday and she had no interest. Spit it right out every time. We waited a week and tried again the next Saturday. Same thing. After about 3 Saturdaysof this with her getting a little more interested each week I decided I would try oatmeal cereal instead of rice. She loved it and has gotten it every day for several weeks now. After about a week we increased from morning cereal only to morning and evening. Tomorrow she is trying her first veggie!
