I was scheduled to have surgery on my thyroid on March 8th, and recently found out im pregnant- 4 weeks and 5 days. So I called my surgeon and he said that he would rather see me have a healthy baby and then do the surgery. Fine. I had put in for my surgery time off months ago, so I had to tell my bosses that I wouldnt need the time off any longer. So, I sent an email to 3 of my bosses and co assistant saying "due to medical complications I have postponed my surgery, and will resume to my normal schedule. One wrote back saying ok. Then I get a call from another boss saying " not to get to personal, but are you ok? and we would like to know as much as possible to support you, and you can come talk to us if you need to." THEN an assistant ( whom I did not email)comes over to me and says " I heard you're not having your surgery, is everything ok?" I just said yeah everything will be ok, I had to post pone for medical reasons"..... WHY IS SHE asking when I didnt even email her? I feel pressured to tell, but do not want to until I have to ( morning sickness, etc...) I want to tell my co assistant ( but I think she will let the cat out of the bag bc she is buddy buddy with one of the bosses) just because I work directly with her, and want to be honest with her, but really wanted to tell my bosses first. I just sent the email today, and I can already feel the fire under my ass. I wanted to wait until I was further along to be sure everything is ok!! what do I do?

Oh boy, I'm sorry. I had a similar situation. I ended up sitting down with my boss and explaining that I'm pregnant, but that I was telling her in the strictest of confidences. I explained that I wanted to be completely forthcoming, but clearly given the natural risk of having not gotten to the 2nd Tri I, under no circumstances, wanted anyone else to know until I felt safe in doing so.
To my surprise she has been very understanding. It's been a huge help having her know so when I get MS or am inconsolably exhausted I don't feel like I have to cover it up. It anything she's helped me hide it from everyone else, understanding my fear of something going wrong.

IF you don't want the boss to know, tell no one at work. my boss found out because my one coworker slipped up...
You do not need to explain anything to them.
Wait until you are comfortable with it.
Is the one secretary a scheduler? maybe they had a temp in and she had to call and cancel...
