For my fellow caffeine lovers

I was wondering how much caffeine there is in my beloved Starbucks grande latte. Turns out Starbucks' website lists the caffeine content of all of their drinks. Mine is 150 mg. Yay, I can have it!

Re: For my fellow caffeine lovers

  • Ooh, good to know!  What is the recommendation anyways?  With my first pregnancy I don't think I drank coffee at all bc I was trying to follow all the "rules"(even tho I know we were allowed to).  Second time I always drank half caff and now I'm going all out!  There is no way I could make it through the day without it. Looking forward to my morning coffee is sometimes the only thing that gets me out of bed!

  • I believe the recommendation is 300 mg daily via coffee, tea (even some green tea has caffiene!), chocolate, pop, hot chocolate, etc.  300 mg is still a lot to me on a daily basis.  I was having a large coffee in the mornings, now I have a medium, once a day, water with supper (don't drink much pop anyhow).  Chocolate can be hard to resist on the best of days :)  My co worker has this apple cinnamon cider in her office, I have been having a cup of that in the afternoon, caffiene free....its not bad, sugary but hits the spot when you want something warm to sip on

  • Some docs say 200mg, some say 300mg per day.

  • Generally I think it is 200mg which is equivalent to about 12 oz of brewed regular coffee.

  • Ok, thanks ladies.  I think I am well within the limit even with my daily chocolate fix!

  • Sweet! :) Gosh, I need a good cup of coffee this morning! I have found that I don't do well with hot drinks during pregnancy though. I might have to get it iced.

  • I love coffee too! The studies show that more than 200 mg of caffeine (more than one brewed cup, I believe) doubles your chance of miscarriage early on. This freaked me out so I have less than half decaf, just a sprinkle of regular coffee really. But I think some people are more sensitive than others.

  • I'm a big coffee drinker and usually get a headache when I don't drink enough. I have limited my intake to a cup and a half in the morning and deal with a major headache in the afternoon. What is worst for my baby, caffeine or the headache?
