DD just decided she won't nap or sleep. Poor thing LOOKS exhausted in her eyes. She's already got a personality like "I want what I want and you're late getting it to me". There was a month where she pretty much was only getting up 1-2x a night and willingly taking 3-4 naps a day.
For the last 3 weeks we've really struggled. She is up 3-4 times a night (sometimes every 2 hours) and refuses to nap. Yesterday she was up from 1:30pm till 7pm when we finally put her down for the night. She acts like she wants to feed each time she's up at night (BF). I thought it was a growth spurt at first, but for 3 weeks?
I already know she has started to play us. For a while she was refusing to BF, screaming like we were torturing her until I warmed up a bottle of stored BM. Well, once when I was in the kitchen preparing it I left her in her crib. All the sudden there was no sound. When I walked back to the nursery she was smiling up at me, all full of herself.
So, I'm more apt to chalk her night wakings up to needing to eat, even if it's often and rather half-hearted at times, and she has slept through the night before. I'm not shure what to do about the naps. I left her cry today.... Checked in on her every min or two, replaced paci, patted butt (ever since rolling she's a belly sleeper) and sang a little. Took two visits. What are some of your thoughts? Nap wise to I just assume she is once again playing me, knowing I'll "rescue" her from her crib if she cries hard enough? By the way, she hasn't pulled that scream till "I want the bottle" thing since that incident I caught her smiling about it.
Re: Just turned 6mo and refusing to nap
DS is doing the sam & he turned 6 months last week. He went from waking 1-2 times per night to waking every 20 mins. Last night he was up at 4, back down at 4:20, back up at 4:45 to eat, down by 5:30, back up at 5:55, asleep at 6, up again 6:25, so on & so forth until being up for the day at 8. So I figured since this is day 2 of no sleep that he would be exhausted today & would nap. He fell asleep in his jumperoo at 11 this morning but only napped for 45 mins & that was his ONLY nap all day. He went to bed at 8 tonight but has been up atleast once an hour since to be rocked back to sleep with the binky and he'll be back up soon for a feeding. It's getting out of hand! He doesn't laugh or smile when we get him a bottle, he's miserable & fighting us when we try to get the binky in his mouth or when we rock him back to sleep. Sometimes he wakes up but he'll just moan & groan until he falls back to sleep.
Question for you: Is LO in a bassinet or her crib? I am asking because DS is in the bassinet still but I am thinking he is feeling crowded in there & waking up because he's uncomfortable but he hates the crib so idk what to do for him to stop this madness! I am beyond sleep deprived.
Like you said, it feels like it's getting out of hand! She doesn't even act like she NEEDS to feed every time.
