Gah wasted bm vent!

Today was my first day back at work. I actually think it went pretty well, despite the freezing rain and taking an hour to drive the normal 20 minutes. It was nice to get back into a routine (I am a huge routine person), though I missed my little guy my class is so hectic there's really no time to think. I even managed to pump 13 oz even though CJ only eats about 8 at DC. DH did really well too, he had to get himself and CJ ready after I left (I leave at 7:30 and he leaves at 8:30) and both of them got everything done and made it to DC no problems.... except that I asked him to bring some frozen BM for emergencies to be kept at DC and while he pulled it out of the freezer he accidently left it sitting out in the front hall. I just had to dump 20 oz down the drain. He felt soo bad. On top of that I only had 8 oz of pumped milk and was worried it wouldn't be enough so i added a bottle of 4 oz of frozen and had to dump it too because they didn't need it. I guess we are still working out the kinks! but so happy we survived the first day!

  • Don't dump milk without checking it out first. If it doesn't smell bad, we still use it. I work too hard for that mess to be throwing it away!

  • Eh, I dunno about the checking it out....sorry Candace!!! Once frozen milk is thawed in the fridge, I use it within 24 hrs. If it were to thaw to room temperature, I would dump it. Yeah it's gold, but it's still milk.

Too bad about dumping all that today! Real bummer!

To each their own. You can throw away all of your milk that you want. I'll keep mine as I see fit. I never dump useable milk.

Yup, to each their own I guess. We keep a close eye on the milk so we don't have to waste any. Luckily, this is our third time around and we've never had a problem. Well, except that this one turned out to have a dairy allergy and I had to dump my first stash at 3 weeks bc of unintentional contamination : Booo!

  • Bummer! I have a habit of bringing a bottle with me when I go out just in case he needs to eat (I'm weird and would rather not NIP) and leaving it in the diaper bag when we get home. It drives me nuts that I have to dump it just because I keep forgetting it's in there.
