OK, so both showers are finished and I have SO many clothes for my little one ranging from newborn to twelve months. Little one is set! I want to start washing them but before I do, I thought I'd ask the following...
-Do you wash all your baby clothes together or do you separate them out?
-What temperature do you wash them on? Does it matter? Or do you just do cold setting for all?
-And lastly-Do you wash all your baby clothes or just the newborn and 0-3 months?
Re: FTM questions about baby clothes...
I washed all clothing in one cycle, towels and wash clothes in another, blankets and bedding in a third. I always do cold water, used free and clear soap, and a second rinse. Remember to not use a dryer sheet either- it interferes with the flame retardant chemical on PJ's.
I would only wash up to 0-3 for now. My son completely skipped over 3-6. At 15 months he is wearing primarily 24 months clothing. You don't know how your baby will grow and if s/he will skip over sizes or be in sizes off season.
I just washed all we had in a couple loads. I separated colors a little bit just because we were doing stuff from DDs. I also did a load of towels/burp clothes separately.
I did a couple loads on hot, but I was trying to get some stains out. For new stuff, I'd likely go with cold.
I'd just wash the NB and 0-3 month stuff. I'd wash the rest when your LO is ready for it.

Personally as a STM, I would suggest not taking the tags off of everything - I would only wash up some of the newborn and 0-3 month. There will still be clothes that the baby will never wear. I know our Carter's will actually exchange sizes if the tags are still on them. So with DD there were multiple outfits that she never wore, so I took them back to caters and got larger sizes or exchanged them for store credit and got other outfits!
I wash all of our clothes the same - tide with reg wash. Colors with colors and whites with whites. I mix blankets, burp clothes, etc. I do Warm/Cold for Colors and hot for whites. I use bleach and also oxy clean. None of us have ever had issues with detergents etc with our skin, so it works for us. I also sometimes run a sanitize if there are any things that need stains removed.
