just wondering if anyone has any tips on travelling with an infant. Hubby and I will be taking a 9 hour road trip with our little one to attend a memorial for my grandfather. Any scheduling tips or what to bring, etc? Thanks!
lots of blankets, a trash bag for diapers, toys that entertain LO, bottles or BM ready to go, and a lot of patience. We travelled with my FB when she was 10 wks, it was a 6 hour drive but turned into 8, because of all the stopping to change diapers, soothe her and feed her when we ran out of thawed BM. She liked the car though, so it was a pretty silent drive. Oh and tons of extra clothes, we had to changer her outfit a few times from a blowout and some spit up accidents. GL!
Honestly, we just had our regular diaper bag with maybe a couple of extra diapers in it. We also just threw diapers away in the trash wherever we were, as we didn't stop on the side of the road. Be ready to stop when LO wakes up to eat, and plan on the stop taking 30 minutes or so. (We ended up stopping every 3 hours(ish) which worked well for the adult bladders as well) Most babies sleep the whole time, so I wish that upon you guys!

My kids have all been easy travelers at that age. Be sure to take him out of the carseat for a bit at each stop for some playtime but likely you will have a sleeper for a passenger. I personally do not like the idea of night driving due to safety issues (tired drivers are very dangerous).

I see your point, but we travel at night, and whoever is driving sleeps for a while before we go. Usually, I'm driving, and I'll go to bed around 8, and when I wake up around 2 we go then. With some music on (thankfully, DS loves music and DH can sleep through anything) I'm good to go!

We have done an 11-13 hour road trip to TN at least once or twice a year with DS1 since he was 5 weeks old. As an infant, they are great travelers usually. We drive overnight to avoid a ton of traffic. It is easy for us to do that though since we work 2nd and 3rd shifts. We take breaks every 2 or so hours with a baby.
