Is there a difference between regular yoga and prenatal yoga?

I have to take a course to fulfill my PE requirements to graduate. I was thinking of signing up for yoga.  At that point, I should be 28 weeks and the course runs for an hour and 15 minutes, 4 days a week, for a month.  Is this a good idea?

  • there is just some poses you shouldnt do. Like deep twists, inversions like head stands etc.

  • The instructor will be able to give you adjustments because there are certain poses you cannot do while pregnant.  I don't see why you cannot sign up for this class.  There are a lot of poses that you will be able to do.

  • I take regular yoga classes but i also did yoga pre pregnancy. I probably wouldnt do a yoga class for the first time while pregnant. It sounds easy, but its actually a pretty tiring workout. However, if you tell your instructor your pregnant then she may help you through it.

  • Yoga is really excellent for you and the baby.  If the class does an extended savasana, or "corpse pose" lie on your side rather than on your back.  Other than that, most poses your body will tell you what you can and can't do.  It's great for breathing and relaxation as well, and I've read encourages the baby to "float" into the right position for birth!
