After being within 1 cm of losing my babies and an emergency cerclage at 21.5 weeks, Jack Thomas and Layla Joann arrived via scheduled c-section at 38w3d on Jan 23rd. Jack was born at 1:29pm, 6lbs 9oz, 20". Layla was born at 1:30pm, 6lbs 4oz, 19.5". She was also born with a 'caul' (or a thin membrane around her head). It's completely harmless and is said to be good luck. Supposedly she is destined for great things! The funny thing is when she came out, we thought the doctor said she had a CLAW! lol Needless to say, DH and I freaked for a second, but now we laugh about it.
We are loving being parents! It's super exhausting, but luckily I've had the help of our parents and my husband who is off from work until the beginning of March. Breastfeeding didn't work out and I have already stopped pumping. The demand was too great and I found each day I was pumping less and less (to the point where they were barely getting a bottle of breast milk per day). I'm sorry I couldn't last longer, but if this pregnancy and parenthood has taught me anything, it's that I don't have control over a lot of things anymore. These babies rule the roost, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
