Swings Recommendations Please

I'm trying to register for a swing, but am not sure what to buy and am not familiar with the product. I think I'd like one that has a bouncy seat in it. Also, everything in the stores seems to have monkies, which I am steering clear of and can't wait for the fad to pass. Please send share links with your favorite swing and why.

 Your help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: Swings Recommendations Please

  • We got the Brights Starts Comfort & Harmony swing. It's a travel swing so it's smaller and lower to the ground. It does not plug in, but we never had to change the batteries. I like it because it's small and fairly neutral and not too expensive.

I second this one. We loved it. And we loved that it folded up and I could store it in the hall closet when we weren't using it!

After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011!

  • We have the Snug-A-Bunny swing and love it! It doesn't bounce, but it does swing 2 different directions. And it plugs in, which was a must-have for us.

I second this one!  I used a travel swing with nanny babies and they got too big/heavy for them to swing very well quite early on.  I LOVED that the Snugabunny swing plugged in, we had enough crap taking batteries!

  • We got the Snugabunny swing and really loved it. It was used daily for more than six months - and then the motor died. Fisher Price is great and is sending us a new one at no charge, but the motor problem is a well-known one which is probably why it was back ordered over a month. Anyway, we'll replace the motor and then tuck the swing away for baby #2.

A bouncy seat is a separate product. We got the matching Snugabunny bouncer seat, and it's what DS is using in the living room now that his swing is out of commission.

  • A plug in option is a deal breaker for us.  FP Snugabunny and the *older* Little Lamb are both have that feature.

  • Snugabunny!  We bought ours on diapers.com last week to try and get some relief!  LO absolutely loves it.  Easy to put together, does take up space but it is well worth it.  Definitely get the plug in version, a friend has the battery operated one and wishes she didn't, she has twins and is constantly charging batteries and lives in fear they will be dead when they most need them!  The snugabunny is cute too, as neutral as I could find!!  LO is swinging to his hearts content right now!
  • We bought a separate bouncer- the Bjorn Babysitter, I think we will get more use when LO is bigger, he is 5 weeks and kind of slides down right now.
  • I have the FP platinum little lamb swing that plugs in. We all love it. It has worked great for us for almost 4 1/2 months. No motor problems yet. The colors are good and it looks nice in our living room. I didn't really feel the need to have the swing and bouncer in one cause I use the 2 separately so often. I wouldn't want to take the seat out of the swing every time I want a bouncer. So I have a separate bouncer in the bathroom. I will say that I wish I'd picked a different bouncer that had some sort of entertainment. I got a neutral tan/light green bouncer which was ok when he was tiny but now he seems bored in it with no bright colors or toys.

  • My daughter was obsessed with her Fisher Price Snug-a-bunny swing. It also comes in the lamb, but I highly recommend the bunny because you can plug it in.

Whatever swing you end up choosing a huge help is if you can plug it in, you'll save yourself a lot of $$$ in batteries!

All this, especially the plug-in part.  We had an Ocean Wonders battery operated hand me down at first and were constantly changing the batteries.  My little guy needed a pretty "aggressive" swing at first, and this one fit the bill!

ETA -- my lil chunkster is 7 months and 22 lbs and still uses the swing occasionally.

  • I totally 2nd a plug in swing. We received a hand me down that took batteries and we almost could have bought a brand new swing with the amount of money we sank in batteries!
