Need some ideas

So we recently found out that we are having a girl. So far there are only two names on our list. I like the name Lucy, and Dh likes the name Ellie. We have reached an impasse and neither of us favors the others name choice. We aren't fans of trendy names or names that are extremely common ie. Bella, Amy, etc. Any ideas ladies? I could really use some help namestorming to find something we can both fall in love with. Thanks in advance!

Choose Natalie! Its the best name ever lol. That's what I named my daughter and no regrets what so ever. Beautiful name that will grow well with her.

Thanks for the feedback, ladies. I have suggested several of these to Dh before and he didn't like any of them

I read him the new names here and he made faces at each one. He is so picky...*sighs* I have suggested probably about 200 names to him over the last few months and the only one he didn't hate was Lucy. Not enough to actually use it, though. He is stuck on Ellie, which I really don't like. It sounds like a nn to me, plain and rather boring. I wish he liked some of my name choices but he just doesn't. Any other names you can think of to help? He HATES names like Caroline, Carol, Charlotte, etc. I have no idea why he just hates them. Any suggestions you have would be very much appreciated!

Are you the one who dislikes trendy/popular names, or is it him? Or both? Ellie is a pretty trendy name ATM.

Anyway, maybe Allyson/Allison? NN Ally, close to Ellie. Maybe look up some names that end in Ellen so Ellie is a possible NN, thinkbabynames is a website that allows you to search by
what you'd like the names to end with.

I feel your frustration. DH was like this too when we first started thinking about names, most likely because I suspected he had a little private list going before I was sure if I even wanted children. So he had a preconcieved idea and he was very stubborn. Eventually I told him that he needed to let go of his expectations because this was OUR child and not just his, and he couldn't keep nixing my ideas just because they weren't on his first draft. I also told him to stop being a bully and knocked him around a bit. ;P

Thank you for the suggestions and advice. We both dislike trendy names, and prefer more old fashioned sorts of names. We want a name that not everyone else has. My dh can be extremely stubborn about names, I know I can be stubborn too. This is our first child and we just don't want to make a mistake, y'know? It does get frustrating, though. Especially when one partner is more open to certain names than the other...

I will definitely check out the website you quoted, and thanks very much! Hopefully I can find something that ends in Ellie so it wouldn't be her full name. He nixed Allison immediately, of course. Tongue Tied

babynamespedia is also a good one to check out! there are many, many names that start with Eli or have bell or ell/elle in them, these are perfect for the nick name Ellie. Good luck. :]
