Toddlers: 24 Months+

twins and toddler beds

If you have twins in the same room and have recently transitioned to toddler beds please tell me about that. We did this today and they didn't nap which I expected it was more playtime in there then resting and they have been spotty naps lately anyway. They tested some boundaries tonight when I put them in. But I am hoping this will be a short adjustment phase and there nighttime sleep stays as it has been and they sleep without waking. Thanks!

Re: twins and toddler beds

  • I have 27 month old twins that were moved to toddler beds at 25 months.  the first week- there was NO napping and napping now is spotty.  There is also a lot of playing when going to bed- but they do eventually go to sleep- I put them down at 8- they are usually asleep by 9 and they wake in the morning at 8.

I just baby proofed their room- and I have a video monitor so I can see what is going on.  There is also no toys in their room- instead they have books to look at.

  • We just did this with ours a few months ago.  Can you nap them in different rooms?  I found that if I waited longer than usual to put them down and if I put them in different rooms they napped better.  At night we just had to ride it out.  We'd go in several times to put them back in bed.  I agree with above poster, we don't have toys in their rooms just a few books and stuffed animals.  It took them 2-3 weeks but now we don't have a problem when they go to be at night.  I also found that since sleeping in big boy beds they get up 1-2hrs earlier in the morning.  Right now we're working with them to stay in bed in the morning until it's light out.  Good luck with the transistion...it might take a while but they'll get it eventually...and just keep reminding yourself that at least now they sleep which is better than when they were infants!!
